Funding SPCA Bulawayo to avoid closure
Dear Animal Lovers Worldwide,
Many of you are aware that the Zimbabwe economy is in dire straits, which has sadly put the SPCA on the road to potential closure. Financially, the organisation relies on donations within the community, bequeathing, and our thrift shop where members of the public give over household items no longer required, which we resell. We are sadly living in a cash strapped society, so sponsorship is often minimal and irregular, and we are constantly trying to fundraise, but a large amount of effort produces little sustainable income.
It is the SPCA's policy to never turn away an animal that needs treatment, even if the owner cannot afford to pay. Many animals that are found or collected off the streets are never claimed and there are those that are not rehomed, and we are then faced with the heart-breaking decision to put them down. The near impossible choice as to which cat or dog should be selected weighs heavy on the hearts of those who have to do it.
If we DO close, that will mean no safe shelter for injured or stray animals, and no animal rescue from cruel living or working conditions, (ie donkeys). The thought of this is very depressing and disheartening, and the harsh reality is that we are desperate for financial assistance.
Therefore, we are appealing to all animals lovers, far and wide, to donate to this worthy cause. Any amount, big or small, will help keep our doors open and help those who cannot help themselves!
Thank you in advance.
