THE STORY

Louise, a rollerblading, havoc wreaking 10 year old learns that things can and will go wrong.  While her kooky Grandma and brothers search for the family’s escaped pet bird Louise accidentally collapses an entire construction site.  She must confront her crazed community and the realities of messing up.

Louise learns about honesty, camaraderie, and how to say you're sorry.  Everybody makes mistakes and sometimes the only way out is through a musical number.  The world of Geez Louise is illogical, chaotic and full of life.

This film is that hug that you need after making a huge goof.  The kind of hug that turns tears into laughter.  It will make you want to rollerblade and it will make you want to go outside.  Inspired by classic family films like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Sound Of Music, A Bug's Life and Pippi Longstocking, Geez Louise is a unique and modern take on a quintessential story.  This film is an exciting and heartwarming adventure for people of all ages.

THE LOCATION

Thanks to Clinton Boyd and Showcase Homes we have already secured our                                                             construction site location!

Omaha, NE is the only place to shoot this film for the following reasons-

  1. Shooting in Omaha allows us to take advantage of a world that already exists and gives us the freedom to unfold the story organically.
  2. This story originated from time spent in an under construction neighborhood in Nebraska.  To recreate the magic and tone we must shoot where it all began.
  3. Omahans are the most hospitable, generous and kind hearted people in the world.
  4. Tornado Alley!  Those beautiful midwestern fields are a crucial background for the perfect storm.

AN EXCERPT FROM THE SCRIPT

WHERE IS YOUR MONEY GOING?

Production Design! Your money will go towards the fun stuff like costumes, rollerblades for Louise, props, a firetruck, an ambulance, a police cruiser and scenic design!

Transportation! We've gotta get 15 crew members and all of our equipment from NYC to Nebraska. That's a 24 hour drive there and back folks.  Your money will pay for the vehicle rental, tolls and gas.

Equipment! Although NYU provides some equipment we'll also be renting a dolly and jib for cinematic shots as well as some massive green screens for the Visual Effects.

Food! Everyone will be working for free which is extremely generous.  The least we can do is provide tasty and hearty meals during the shoot.  (If you are a restaurant owner or caterer in Omaha and would like to donate meals instead please email me at mary.kerrigan.hello@gmail.com!)

VFX! We're not going to actually knock a house down and we're not going hope a tornado hits while we're shooting... but our friend Charles Lee can make it look like we did! (check out his website here)  25% of this film will be created after we've shot and it's not easy or cheap.

A NOTE FROM MARY

Hi there!  I just wanted to take a moment to express how thankful I am for your support.  I've been working on the script for over a year now and I can not wait to share it with the world.   It feels amazing to have gotten this far with a personal concept and knowing that you are visiting this page and donating makes me want to blow you all away.  I promise to dedicate every particle of my being to making this film the best film possible.  I am excited to shoot, and excited to release the movie that we all made together!
