Overview

Get Out of Here is a funny and tense heist film set in the shadowy warehouses, bars and restaurants of western Melbourne. We're looking to raise A$50,000 to help get the project over the line as we already have Screen Australia provisional tax offset in place as well as production investment from Film Victoria. The funds raised will be to help with casting, art department and visual effects, all crucial to making a low budget film look and feel like so much more!

Short Summary

I'm Al Reid, director and co-producer and I've been working on the project with writer Jonathan Empson since 2003. Julian Costanzo and Tait Brady are also producing.
Our campaign is to try and make sure we have enough funds to realise the script. With a low budget production, every dollar is crucial, and we know we'll need everything to make sure the story is properly realised.
Any contribution will be massive - each dollar helping bring a veracity and authenticity to the film that is essential - especially casting, art department and visual effects. We are so close we can't let this moment pass, so we're here trying to land the final blow - before the real stuff begins!

What We Need & What You Get

We have a target of 50,000, but it all counts. Initially it will be for casting as while there are only 4 main roles, one of them Danny - is in almost every scene - and it's crucial we find the best young actor for the job. Despite being low budget, there are quite a lot of art department costs, so some of the funds will go towards building the ATM scammers used in the heist, and finally some extra funds to create visual effects that wont be possible to create in camera.
We have some great insider benefits including on-set access, premiere night tickets in Melbourne, exclusive behind the scenes updates on social media, and for one generous person a small cameo role in the film!
Assuming we don't reach our target, you can be sure that the funds will be used as far as they stretch - initially with casting.

The Impact

While this is a low budget film ~A$1.5m - it has the ingredients to be a fun, tense and thrilling ride for audiences across the world. Being genre it can travel easily and making sure we have the necessary funds to realise it fully is vital!

Risks & Challenges

We will have many challenges realising the film - in addition to funds. The budget allows for 4 weeks of production with a full crew, but our ambitions will test this. Plus as mentioned there is some complicated 'business' regarding the heist and subsequent interrogation that will need to be realised simply but cleverly making sure not to cheat the audience.
We're looking at breaking down the shoot into 2 parts - 2 weeks full crew with all the equipment and cost, and then 3 weeks smaller crew (essentials) when filming more intimate and contained scenes - which would allow more time while not eating into the contingency.
