Short Summary
We play Quidditch, the sport made famous by the popular Harry Potter series of novels for young adults. Our brooms don't fly and our Golden Snitch is in fact just a person with a tennis ball attached to the back of their shorts, but the magic is real--in 2014 alone there were over 200 muggle Quidditch teams playing around the world and the sport continues to grow each year. On July 19th of this year national teams representing Italy, USA, the U.K., Australia, France, Belgium, Mexico and Canada will compete in Burnaby in the Global Games, and team Canada needs your help to compete!
Twenty-one players and eight alternates were selected to the Canadian National Quidditch Team after nation-wide tryouts held in May. Most of these athletes are students, and most live in the East, meaning that they face a high financial barrier to representing their country in the sport they love. With your donations, these national team athletes will be able to go to Burnaby, BC, to represent our country and compete for Canadian pride!

What We Need & What You Get
The money you donate will be used for food and transportation on the ground in Burnaby for the team, as well as their jerseys. The team will be housed by the coaches, and therefore have no housing costs. Once we have enough to cover those costs, (~$2200), all other funds will go towards subsidizing airfare for the team. Our ultimate goal is to cover all costs for the 21 athletes competing in Burnaby.
For supporting us, you get to take advantage of all the talents of Team Canada! From personalized serenades, to photography, to baking, to sewing. You also have the opportunity to make us do things: Matt will cut or dye his hair however you want it. You can pie or ice a team member. You can go for a date with one of us. Or, you can even have us as your personal tour guides in and around Vancouver!
In addition to all of this, if you can think of any other perk that you'd like and present us with a reasonable price, we'll probably do it!!
The Impact
By helping us, you'll help Canada's elite quidditch players reach their goals and be able to represent us. Why do these athletes want to be part of this team?
"I feel that a chance to play for Team Canada during the Global Games would be an incredible honour. Ever since I started playing quidditch last fall, I felt that it was something I would love for the rest of my life. Being on Team Canada with the best players in the country, playing against the best players in the world, would be an amazing opportunity for me to challenge myself to become better. I feel that I would be able to contribute to the team and help Canadian quidditch be even more respected than it already is." - Andrew Kusters, Keeper
"I think this would be an amazing opportunity to show the world that Canada is a force to be reckoned with in the quidditch world and I'd love to be a part of the team to do so." - Arlene Rosenberg, Beater
"I cocoon myself in a Canadian flag on a regular basis and being able to do that and play quidditch at the same time would be pretty great." - Adam Robillard, Seeker
"I want to be on Team Canada because I love Quidditch and my country, and I would love the opportunity to represent Canada by playing Quidditch." - Robyn Fortune, Chaser
