For many years, the Veterans Equity Center has been providing and helping low income seniors and Filipino veterans by providing case management, counseling, free legal clinic, health services, and affordable housing.

Due to the recession and the effects of gentrification many of these Filipinos were evicted from Manilatown and forced to move to the poor and dangerous areas of South of Market where many people who have mental illnesses and are homeless live.

For many of us, our relatives have participated in the war and throughout our Filipino American Identities course we saw the hurt and injustice they were put through during this time. America had 66 allies during World War II, but only one country was not recognized, the Philippines. To this day, they are still not recognized or are receiving any benefits for their brave services. This made us feel shocked, Angry, Unimportant, unappreciated, hurt, and question our self worth as a human. Why out of all 66 countries, were the Filipino World War II veterans the only ones not recognized?

Let's give the Filipino veterans who are currently struggling to live a long over due happy life, the benefits and recognition they deserve. This year, the VEC is struggling with keeping these war hero warm during this upcoming cold winter.  Please help us collected cash donations so we can provide them with blankets, scarves, coats, gloves, socks, and other necessities.
