Who We Are
Pawsitive Care is a small, veteran owned, family business that was started by Ashley Rivera in 2015. Ashley and her husband Jim have 3 children, and allowing them an opportunity to learn, grow, and be an active part of caring for animals has helped shape Pawsitive Care into what it has become today. You can follow us on Facebook at https://m.facebook.com/pawsitivecaretx/
Pawsitive Care is a member of NAPPS (National Association of Professional Pet Sitters) and IBPSA (International Boarding and Pet Services Association). They provide professional pet sitting, dog walking, in-home boarding, and dog fostering for the South Houston and northern Brazoria County areas.
Why Do We Need To Grow?
As the community around us grows so does the need for quality pet care. Unfortunately, the number of pets in need also follow this trend. The need for fostering dogs became apparent to Ashley while walking dogs in different neighborhoods. She would often find them lost or abandoned, taking them home to house them temporarily until an owner or an adopter was found.
The number of dogs needing a temporary home greatly outnumbers the places available. Currently, Ashley and her family board dogs from their home located on 1 acre in Manvel, TX and are very limited in the number of dogs that they can care for. By adding a building to board dogs in individual rooms, they can continue to grow and help families in the community while helping dogs in the community find families.
What We Need
Regular kennels are often overcrowded, loud, smelly, and just an overall stressful place to be if you're a dog!
High stress levels can cause physical and emotional harm to dogs no matter where they are. Too often, dogs that board at a regular kennel facility can become fearful of other dogs or become ill from stress and low sanitation standards.
For those needing to be adopted it can mean a world of difference! Most people don't give a second glance to the sad dog hiding in a corner, the one barking aggressively at the gate, or one who looks unwell. Give that same dog an enriching environment, social interaction, and training- you've got a whole different pup that everyone wants to add to their family!
The Dog Haven
Giving dogs a sense of calm and security is the main focus for building each dog suite- being a home away from home.
The entire project aims to have 20 individual, climate controlled rooms with 6 being used for foster dogs on a regular basis. Each room will have a dog door that leads to a personal outdoor run so they can go in or out as they please throughout the daytime.
The project also includes 3 play yards for exercise, socialization, and one-on-one playtime. All play yards will be strongly supervised while in use.
Where Your Money Goes
What You Get
We have a variety of awesome perks to show our thanks to our supporters!
The Impact
It would take us several years to be able to complete this project on our own, but the pets who need help in our community don't have that long to wait! Many of our fosters come from shelters where they are literally rescued from being euthanized. So many of these dogs have such wonderful personalities and want nothing more than to be loved, and you can help give them that extra time to find it!
Challenges
We understand that if the goal is not reached right away it will hinder the time to complete the project. All funds raised through this event will go directly toward the construction of this project. If we are unable to meet the goal during this campaign, we will build a smaller version of this project as the funds allow and continue expanding as we are able.
