The Retreat is a project dreamt up by a group of people who are passionate about
improving the lives of people that are the most vulnerable and need a break from their everyday hurdles.
The property in which the retreat will be set up on if enough money is donated already has
* 9 Secluded self-contained chalets
* Caravan park with 20 sites with pool and all facilities
* Restaurant for 100 patrons
* commercial kitchen
* Conference hall/games room
* Private air strip (day & night) built to RFD Standards
(in case of an emergency the Royal Flying Dr can land their plane right on the property.)
It is set on 1200 acres.
To get the retreat up and running we are seeking funds to
· Build four new disability appropriate cabins. Making sure they are all air conditioned. (The infrastructure is already in place with underground power plumbing and water running through.)
· Put in a hydrotherapy pool
· Put in a 25 meter indoor swimming pool with a miniature water park.
· Design and build a mini golf course.
· Build a conservatory they can grow fruit and veggies all year around.
· Build a playground including a specialized Wheelchair swing. The award-winning Liberty Swing – the world's safest and most recognized swing for children and adults in wheelchairs.
· Build an outdoor entertaining area including BBQ, pizza ovens, comfy furniture for all to enjoy.
· Replace the gravel around the retreat to bitumen so people in wheelchairs can venture out of their accommodation.
· Build a mini salon, so people when they are enjoying the retreat they can book to have a haircut, get their nails done without having to leave the retreat. We know how hard this would be to do in their everyday life so we want to make sure we have all the facilities at the retreat.
· Buy a defibrillator in case of emergencies.
· Buy and plant lots of fruit trees. And when ripe people visiting can wonder out and take fruit straight from the trees and enjoy.
· Purchase small farm animals, so people visiting can interact with the animals and help feed them and best of all cuddle them. The place already has all the facilities to house the animals in; they just need to get the animals.
There will be nothing like it anywhere in the whole of Australia.
To keep the retreat running ( because we are not charging families to stay) we will be operating wholly on fundraising endeavors, support from the local community and opening up certain sections of the retreat to the general public.
Example: Once the 25 meter swimming pool is set up, it will then be open to the public on certain days so the local children can learn to swim and also enjoy the facilities. There is no public swimming pool for them to learn this skill.
The Retreat will offer a truly unique experience and is set in an idyllic country setting only 90 minutes north of Joondalup.
