Short Summary
My name is Tiffany Matthews. I was born and raised in Alexandria, VA, and currently work as a firefighter for the City of Alexandria.
I've built an impressive football playing career as a RB/LB with the DC Divas women's tackle football team from 2004-2012. I was even the first player to be recognized by the Pigskin Club of Washington, DC for both offense (2008) and defense (2012).
Having seen the potential for growth in women's football, I have a renewed vision for DC--one that includes fostering talent in women of all athletic backgrounds, and making team cohesion a priority.
The Independent Women's Football League has backed my dream, I have an amazing staff in place, and have found a group of goal driven women who are ready to help bring my dream to life and lead the way.
We've planted the seed, but we need YOUR help to bring it to life!
What the Prodigy Need
Here's what we need, in detail:
- Funding for recruiting and advertising
- Funding for pre- and in-season practice facilities.
- Funding for game day items: facilities, equipment, etc.
While we hope to reach the entire goal through fundraising, any part of it that is achieved will still be applied directly to the above goals.
The Impact
Women in the DC area have shown continued interest in football. However, there are still many women who do not know that the opportunity to actually PLAY tackle football even exists for them.
The goal of the Washington Prodigy (a non-profit organization) is to make women's football more visible and accessible to interested female players and general sports fans in the DC Metro area.
