The project team has a working demo, not the final product. Their ability to begin production may be affected by product development or financial challenges.
Welcome to the new generation of human interface devices.
Glamos is a motion sensor that creates a virtual touchscreen anywhere. Connect it with your device and turn your screens instantly interactive. Project an invisible touchscreen near you and control a device that’s far away from you.
Glamos uses its rotating mirror module to scan its surroundings. It measures the distance between the objects and itself, transforms the data into a touch coordinate, and sends the coordinate to a display screen (like your smartphone or laptop).
LiDAR sensors are widely used in self-driving cars (Check out the video below to see how it works).
Traditional LiDAR sensors, however, are extremely huge and require a LOT of power. We developed the world’s smallest LiDAR device with the least power consumption.
We had an opportunity to demonstrate Glamos at a coworking space in Santa Monica, and here's what happened
Whereas most other sensors detect motions within a small range, Glamosautomatically scales the size of the virtual touchscreen. The screen can be as small as your smartphone screen OR as big as 6 x 3 ft just like the one below.
Most sensors that use a camera can only capture a limited range of motion. Glamos can scan all directions without any limitations because it uses a rotating mirror module instead of a camera.
Project a virtual touchscreen literally anywhere you want: on your wall, on the air, on a whiteboard - you name it!
Check out how you can use Glamos to create a touchscreen on different surfaces:
Glamos turns all your mobile games into a Wii game.Connect Glamos with your phone then project the phone screen on a bigger screen using an HDMI cable. Instead of playing Candy Crush on your tiny phone for hours, you can play it on a TV screen and turn it into an exciting social activity.
Glamos operates at 40Hz or 40fps, meaning its mirror module rotates and captures your motion 40 times per second. This allows your screen to respond to your movement as rapidly as possible- on laptops, you'll feel like your hands are an extension of your mouse cursor.
Motion sensors tend to drain the connected device's battery super quickly. All you wanted was a seamless connection, and the next thing you know, you're left with 10% battery.
Unlike traditional motion sensors, Glamos operates on minimal power and doesn't put a toll on your device.
While experimenting with LiDAR technology at Samsung Electronics C-Lab, I saw the potentials of the technology. I wanted to create a LiDAR device that’s smaller and more affordable—a device anyone could use anywhere. I founded CoreDAR in 2017 to realize this dream. Ever since my team and I have been putting a large deal of effort and time to develop and test Glamos.
After over 100 iterations and tests, we are proud to finally present the working prototype of Glamos. We are currently testing to make sure that it works with Android, Windows, and iOS devices without any glitch.
We are currently working on the final hardware design before we start mass production. What you will get as a reward will be even better looking than the prototype in the video. We will post an update as soon as we finalize our hardware design, so stay tuned!
