Go For Launch: Mercury is the first installment in a series of simulations chronicling the early days of space flight. With full integration for either a standard computer monitor or full VR via a headset, GFL:Mercury will take you on the ultimate adventure into space and let you re-live the exact experiences of those early pioneers, the Mercury Seven.
Key features
- 7 fully functioning, interactive spacecraft interiors and exteriors. Each individually crafted to accurately portray the changes in design and loadout.
- 7 complete playable missions from the mercury program (including the cancelled Freedom 7II)
- Detailed models of the Atlas and Redstone rockets on historically accurate launch pads (and the ability to witness test launches from the ground!).
- A full scale recreation of earth as seen from low orbit.
- A virtual recreation of mission control including control room, spacecraft hangar and pilot's office.

But...Go For Launch: Mercury is already in production, so why does it need crowdfunding?
Initially I ran a kickstarter to see if there was sufficient backers to secure full funding for the game. Unfortunately I was unable to gain enough traction in the media to get the number of pledges needed. But that was never going to be the end of the project!
The biggest change in fortune occurred when the game was very rapidly approved for release on Steam Greenlight, providing the potential for far greater funding via an early access model.
The new funding model consists of this initial small Indiegogo to raise a smaller budget. This money will be put towards the resources needed to bring the game up to a suitable standard for an Early Access release.
Of course I also wanted to run this crowd fund to allow a select few early backers to secure perks and features unavailable in the finished game, or a copy of the game at a lower than final value price!
Some development costs that will be supported by this fundraiser include - Additional computer hardware, music licensing, outsourcing additional code, my time!...allowing me to drop my freelance work partially, or even completely to focus on development.

EducationalGFL: Mercury is being built from the ground up to be as authentic as possible. The goal is for it to not only serve as entertainment but also as a historical document that can be used to teach people about the history of space flight.
ChallengingFully interactive cockpits, system failures, manual flight operations, different play modes and scalable dificulty combine to make Go For Launch: Mercury as challenging and in depth as you want, without being inaccessible to the casual gamer.
ImmersiveGo For Launch: Mercury does not simply focus on the operation simulation of spacecraft but also replicates the sights, sounds and sensations experienced by the early astronauts. The addition of optional VR headset takes the immersion to the next level as you really feel exactly what it was like to be there.
