GOOD LUCK MISS WYCKOFF concerns a controversial and ultimately tragic relationship between a lonely, white spinster high school teacher and a young Pakistani scholarship student/athlete who works at the school as a janitor in a small town US college community.
The film will be directed by critically acclaimed theatre director, Karen Carpenter from a screenplay by veteran producer Robert Weinbach, two time winner of the Houston International Screenplay competition.
The starring role of Evelyn Wyckoff is a tour de force vehicle for a major actress in this powerful and gripping contemporary version of Inge’s haunting story of ill-fated lust and sexual repression. The subtext is punctuated by the corrosive and perverse forms of political correctness rampant in modern American society and further dramatized by issues of racism, censorship and the virulent discrimination and abuse of women in many countries of the world today.
The film is being financed by a combination of equity participations, a Mississippi Film Incentive Rebate of $185,000, international pre-sales and crowd funding. With the support of this IndieGoGo campaign , the filmmakers will be able to maintain complete creative control of their distinctive and powerful vision. In today’s world of indie filmmaking. with extraordinary advances in digital cinematography , editing, post production and distribution, the filmmakers can realize Inge’s incredibly controversial and compelling story without institutional interference or censorship.
