What is Grooves?
A love story for the ages. Poignant social commentary. Rugged, glistening heroes who must save us all from the end of the world.
Yeah, these things have nothing to do with Grooves.
Grooves dives deep into the always fascinating world of underground Rock & Roll, but with the underlying theme of complex family dynamics. We see this world through the lens of Tom, our aging, crass, yet somehow lovable protagonist. Like most of us, Tom struggles with career and family issues. He must regain the trust of his estranged son to build the relationship he wants with his granddaughter, and the relationship he needs with his son.
Grooves aims to cut through our current age of “infobesity.” Our film doesn’t concern itself with current affairs, politics or celebrity. Rather, it gets to the essence of what our lives are truly made of - family, friendship, and love....and old dudes joking about wieners. Think Little Miss Sunshine meets The Big Lebowski meets The Full Monty. But the rock version.
Cinematically, our team is going clean. We’re eschewing the all-too-trendy smash cuts, jerky camera, and “flash, bang, what did I just see?” editing for a clean, simple look. We want to pull viewers into the story and create an effortless and inviting viewing experience. Our Sony F35 (TRON: Legacy, Darkest Hour) has the major motion picture quality chops to bring a big budget feel to our film.
We fully understand how difficult it is to make a full-length feature film. And that’s precisely why we’re doing it.
Some people climb Everest. We make films. Let’s do this.
What Your Contribution Will Support
We know there are people out there who are passionate about filmmaking and would do this for free, but we'd love to be able to do more than just feed the talented cast and crew. Because this is a feature film, we have close to 30 shoot days so approximately half the budget will go towards paying the main cast and crew.
The remaining budget will go towards the practicalities of making a film such as equipment, sets, wardrobe & props, locations, transportation and legal stuff.
Every contribution comes with a perk so check them out and see which level of contribution works for you. No amount is too small and we sincerely appreciate every dollar.
Should we not meet our entire goal, Grooves will still get made, providing we raise enough for the basics. If we don't, we will refund your contribution. But we hope it won't come to that and your contribution can help ensure we make a quality film!
Other Ways You Can Help
We understand it's not always possible to make a financial contribution. You can still help us and come along on the journey with us by sharing this page and spreading the word about our film.
We thank you for your support, in whatever form it comes!
