Project Summary
My name is Joe Tighue, I was born and raised in Cherry Hill, NJ, where I had the pleasure to meet the Jarvis family. Springdale Farm and Market has been a family run farm since the 1940's, back when Cherry Hill was nothing but dirt roads and local farms. Since then, the area has become a major city, and one of the last standing titans of local business in Cherry Hill is Springdale Farms.
Spending a day at Springdale Farms is an immersive, independent modern farming operation that serves to educate anyone who participates in it, even if they are just a customer passing through.
The Jarvis family has always put the community first, and are constantly looking for ways to adapt to the constant changes to our society and ecosystem. They ensure a quality, homegrown, sustainable way of producing the best food entirely on their own.
My mission with this film is to showcase the Jarvis family, their business, and the passing of the torch to the next generation; Alan, Clayton, and Michala. Who do everything in their power to keep this farm alive and strong.
What We Need & What You Get
I am hoping to reach a goal of $8,000 or more. This money will help fund the following:
- Gear for the project (cameras, microphones, memory cards, camera batteries, and lighting tools).
- Payments to on site crew (camera operators, production assistants, transportation).
- Post production (editors, music, marketing).
- Additional funds will go towards submissions to film festivals and ensuring a steady flow of production.
Supporters for this project will receive updates each month during production, access to exclusive content for the film, credit in the film (if wanted), and access to the film upon release.
If the goal is not reached, contributions will be put towards the film in the most effective way possible.
The Impact
The Jarvis family have been operating their farm, market, and bakery with just the power of the family and loyal friends of the farm. As a former Springdale farm hand myself, I can confidently say that the effort that this family puts into their farm is unmatched. However, I can also say that additional help & hands are always needed in order to maximize their impact on the local community.
My hope with this film is to shine a spotlight on Springdale Farms, and by doing so, bring more aid and hands to the family and workers there.
