Freak hailstorm costs Shakespeare Actors and Crew Tens of Thousands of Dollars
Theatrical acting is much more a passion than a means to economic lavishness. On June 13, 2012 they were hit even harder.
While rehearsing for this year’s Shakespeare in the Park performance of Twelfth Night, a freakish storm hit directly in the outdoor park. Baseball sized hail pounded the actors, crew and their vehicles. Front and back car windows were blown out. The weather channel described the storm as "Apocalyptic". Damages around the city are in the millions.
For the actors and crew, the economic damage has been severe. Many of these individuals do not carry full coverage much less the expense of rental cars and deductibles.
Let's help out these actors and crew. A few dollars each and we can bring some much needed support.
Founded in 1971, Shakespeare Dallas offers North Texas residents a unique opportunity to experience Shakespeare in a casual park setting, as well as providing cultural and educational programs to audiences of all ages. You can find more information at www.shakespearedallas.org.
What We Need
We need your help. Whether $1, $5, or $50. All funds will benefit the actors and crew that have documented damage to their vehicles. The funds will be distributed by the professional administrators at Shakespeare Dallas.
If by chance there are excess funds, they will be donated to Shakespeare Dallas for general use by this wonderful non-profit organization.
Other Ways You Can Help
We know that some people just can’t contribute, but we know you still want to help. Here's how:
- Forward this campaign to your friends and colleagues. Bring the spirit of the Elizabethan era back!
- Use the Indiegogo share tools. They are a great way to get the word out.
- At minimum, post a message of support to this incredible group of actors and crew to show your support.
Thank you again for the consideration and your support of the ARTS!
