Half of Twenty Two Summary
Half of Twenty Two ~ is a feature film dedicated to tween girls, and the daily trials they encounter.
Miranda, an 11 year old lover of books, who yearns to someday be a famous author, begins her day in her usual way...shall we just say, she is not a morning person?
Miranda attends 6th grade at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School. On this day we become familiar with Miranda and 5 of her closest girl friends as they discuss what it's like to be an 11 year old girl in the 21st century.
Having lunch in the park during a field trip, where they've gone to gather fossils, they hilariously reveal their preteen insecurities and complaints of having no control over, not only their lives, but the daily changes in their own bodies.
We take a comical journey through Miranda's imaginary music video and possibly meet her true love.
Everything is fun and gleeful...until Miranda's world is turned dramatically upside down and she is hurled sideways into reality.
Writer, Producer, Director ~ Laralee List
- Laralee has been writing, producing and directing theatre since 1985, including 10 years in Los Angeles. She has directed and produced over 100 live productions. Half of Twenty Two is her film debut, and is thrilled to bring this much needed film to life. This film is currently being submitted to film festivals around the world, and was accepted to the very first festival to which it was submitted!
- Half of Twenty Two is dedicated to tween girls EVERYWHERE, because there is very little, if any, entertainment specifically for tween girls. This is unusual, because it seems to be one of the most harrowing times in a girl's life. Ask ANYONE, female or male, about their junior high years and they will shiver at the thought. Half of Twenty Two's goal is to give a voice and role models to tween girls all over the world. It is our pleasure to recognize this group of magical beings and create something specifically for them.
The Part YOU Play!
The film is complete. We just need help with Marketing to secure distribution:
- OUR FILM IS ALREADY COMPLETE! :D So, there is no reason to meet pre-production, production, or post funding. Our film has already begun it's journey out into the world through private screenings and submissions to film festivals and was ACCEPTED to the very first festival it was submitted to! What we need now is funding to market and promote this film.
- Your contributions, in any denomination, will fund our marketing campaign, cover licensing and legal paperwork fees, film festival entrance fees, DVD and Blu-ray replicating necessary for promotion and marketing, expenses in printing, travel expenses to festival destinations as we are accepted to film festivals around the world, and so many other costs associated with marketing, and promoting a film.
- If for any reason we do not reach our goal, every penny you have contributed will be utilized by priority, to make certain we complete our necessary expenditures. We will continue to fund-raise in other locations as well, until we reach our final fundraising goals.
YOU are Helping Us Give Positive Choices to Tween Girls!
This film has an EXTREMELY POSITIVE and IMPORTANT MESSAGE for tween girls, as well as younger girls between the ages of 9 to 11 :
- Currently, we are not aware of more than a handful of Positive Image, Girl Power Films with Intelligent, Motivated Characters as role models for our young and tween girls. On the contrary, young girls today are subject to an incessant barrage of inappropriate role models, sporting completely nude or "next to nothing" as they bump and grind across their hot pink media screens. This concerns us, because we all know the decisions we make between 6th and 8th grades, can lead us to who we will eventually be. This precarious, junior school experimentation time, is where major trips and falls can, and often do occur.
- We NEED young girls to know, it's PERFECTLY OKAY and PREFERABLE to keep their clothes on. They should expect all people to respect them as PEOPLE not OBJECTS. I truly wonder what those dedicated to women's suffrage across the globe would have thought they were fighting for, if we could show them just 15 seconds of some of our most popular female music videos.
- The twerking model for mentorship is fine for some, but as an alternative, we might want to fund more opportunities to create positive, real-world role models, readily available to our girls, in our many forms of media. Our planet is filled with awesome women doing so many more miracles every day than ever before. With female executives in every field of employment, women have made huge strides in the world, but for the most part, let's be honest, our most popular entertainment options offer our girls not much more, than the hope they will look great in a bikini.
- All forms of art and entertainment should be funded, but maybe it's time to ADD to the mix a little MORE POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT FOR OUR DAUGHTERS, to help them make better choices for their future,
- Writer, Producer, Director, Laralee List has a proven track record with over 100 live productions to her credit. You may FEEL CONFIDENT that your contribution will be utilized to promote this film in the best way possible, by making every dollar count and stretching it as far as it can possibly go.
