Most affordable electric coffee grinders are too fast to burn the beans and those quality electric burr grinders cost hundreds or even sometimes thousands to spend. Through continuous refinements of materials, processes, and performance, HAMAC yields the same consistent grind size at a small fraction of the price of electric burr grinders.

Most electric coffee grinders make a lot of noise, which is not ideal and unbearable for a family setting. HAMAC grinding coffee at 30 RPM generates a low and quiet level of 65dB, providing no disturbance.

Why Develop HAMAC?
All of our team members are passionate about coffee and its culture but unhappy like other coffee lovers with the problems of both current manual and electric coffee grinders. We set out to handle what we consider to be the key failures of most hand and electric grinders available today. Thanks to our team, we have worked out a revolutionary device, HAMAC. It benefits coffee enthusiasts both the attributes of manual and electric grinders. It’s about helping everybody make better coffee with fewer unknowns in the equation.
Our design objectives: HAMAC has both the benefits of manual and electric grinders- consistent grinding, hand grinding speed, convenient, portable, hand grinding speed, compact and lightweight.

Our Long Journey
1. Proof of Concept and Functionality
a. Research and test current manual and electric grinders:

b. Test and analyze the functionality of gear motors: Test the speed, weight, and torque of 10 RPM, 30RPM and 80RPM gear motors to determine the most efficient in the balance of size, weight, and function. 30 RPM has been chosen accordingly.

2. Make, test and analyze the prototypes for functional and appearance improvements:
a. Dimensions and materials of the housing: ABS?
b. Dimensions and materials of powder cover: ABS? Silicone?
c. Grinding time: within 4 minutes for 30g?
d. Noise levels: below hand grinder level 70?
e. Arrange 3D print models based on the dimensions of drawings.

- Weight: 350g
- Size: length 145mm/height 60mm/width 53mm
- dB level: 65-67
- Housing: ABS plastics for its great resistance to heavy use and adverse environmental conditions.
- Powder Cover: Silicone rubber for its excellent resistance to extreme temperatures he tensile strength, tear strength, elongation, and compression.
3. Planned to use injection molding for housing. Based on the refinements of prototypes, we have finished the CAD files.

Over the years, we haveclosely tied with a partner factory in China with great experience and expertise in manufacturing, and good delivery records. The factory is equipped with full-scale facilities mainly including high-speed mounters, re-flow soldering system, automatic bonders, wave soldering, and injection molding machines.

Risks and Challenges
What you see here is a fully functional pre-production model. It is close to the final product except for housing refinements.
As with any hardware project, there are natural risks and challenges in engineering and manufacturing. We've done a lot to minimize risks for backers: We have completed generations of prototypes that have demonstrated all the key functionality and appearance. These help to minimize any potential issues that may come up. Accordingly, we have completed our design for manufacturing processes so that we have a clear vision of how long it takes from when the various components reach us and the final product reaches your door.
