Logline:
It is a story about a hungry, broke guy who robs people that he thinks are weaker than him but finds out he is wrong.
"Happy Noodle" sets in 2022 when COVID-19 has impacted our individual lives. Throughout the story, the main protagonist, John, has no money left in his bank account and tries to rob those who he thinks are weaker than him. Eventually, John learns that the world is not as bad as he thought it was. The film is filled with concepts of self-reflection, empathy, and kindness.

What We Need & What You Get:
Here is a breakdown of where our $17,000 goal budget will be spent. The production part of the budget includes things like miscellaneous items we will need throughout the production, in addition to the crew and cast rates.

There are several different perks, ranging from $5 to $750 or more. By having a wide variety of perks with flexible amounts, it is a guarantee that you will be able to get something, no matter how much you donate.
The Impact:
Ever since the beginning of the pandemic due to COVID-19, the hatred towards Asian has increased drastically to the point where we felt unsafe. The reason why the film is based on the current time period is that even though COVID-19 has died down since the beginning of the pandemic, it still has its impact and is still very real around us.
In addition, I wish this film can help those who feel scared or hesitant to ask for help in their daily lives and that they don't have to do everything by themselves. Like the main protagonist, John, who was always hesitant to ask for help and eventually learns that it is okay to do so.
Even though the story itself seems quite serious, there will be subtle hints of comedy underneath the drama, making the story more entertaining and keeping the audience more engaged and entertained.

Risks & Challenges:
There will be several challenges and risks throughout the production - our top two high-risk activities being weapons, stunts, and special effects. At the beginning of the film, John uses a box cutter to rob a cashier at the convenience store, who fights back with a pocket knife that is bigger than John's. However, for safety reasons, we will be purchasing an industry-standard prop weapon from NewRulesFX, where all the blades and knives will be made with plastic but still looks very realistic.

The next high-risk activities will be stunts. After John runs out of the convenience store, he rushes into a Chinese restaurant where he meets Mei. Just as he is about to rob Mei, she suppresses John in a blink of an eye by using Kung Fu. This is where our stunt coordinator, Robin Calvo, comes in and makes sure that we can execute the stunts we have in mind with safety, making sure that nobody gets hurt.

The last high-risk activity will be special effects. Most of our special effects will be done practically by fish wires and a fan. Since these will be practicals, we will be cheating with camera movements and reverse shots in the post-production to finalize and polish the effect we want.
On the contrary, our low-risk activities will be COVID-19. Since COVID-19 is still very much around us, we will have a COVID-19 officer who will sanitize the high-traffic areas and surfaces every 2 hours, along with a booth for extra masks, hand sanitizers, and disinfectant wipes. Throughout the production, masks will be required on set for everyone at all times except for lunch and right before when camera rolls. In addition, everyone has to be either fully vaccinated or have the COVID-19 test done 3 days prior to the production date.
During lunchtime, we will distance ourselves 6 feet apart from each other to prevent potential exposures. Lunch will be provided as an individual boxed meal with the food everyone ordered through the survey a week before. Lastly, the temperature of the crew and the cast will be recorded at the beginning and at the end of the day, making sure everybody is in good health.
