The original Hauntedween was a 1990's cult classic that featured an intoxicating blend of Kentucky fried comedy and horror. It ended, like all good horror films, with the promise of a sequel.
Eddie Burber in the original Kill Room - Hauntedween
Twenty five years later, indie filmmakers Dustin Ferguson (Cheerleader Camp to the Death), Dorothy Booraem (Wake the Witch), and Chad Haufschild (Blood Rites) are teaming up with Doug Robertson (Hauntedween writer/director) to produce the sequel that retro horror fans have been dying for - Hauntedween 2!
The finished product will be a 70-80 minute feature available on VHS and DVD by Halloween of 2015. The movie will be shot in the style of the original film, with maximum gore, humor and country fried local actors and locations. Several well known actors from classic 80's & 90's horror films are in talks to play key roles as well.
We are reaching out to horror fans worldwide to help Hauntedween killer Eddie Burber come home again. Choose a reward level and become a Hauntedween 2 backer!
GOALS & REWARDS
GOALS
We have great faith that we can raise our minimum goal at the very least. BUT, if we do end up raising less, the filmmakers will privately pitch in to reach the $5000 goal, even if that means selling our 80's horror collectibles.
We don't know how you feel about the remakes of 80's/90's horror movies that Hollywood keeps cranking out but we feel like it's a little disrespectful. Those original films are still powerful in their own right, they don't need to be cleaned up or watered down.
We think a sequel is the best way to keep old school slasher horror alive! Hauntedween 2 will give the original fans a chance to revisit the story and will also bring the original Hauntedween to the attention of a new generation of horror fans.
Eddie goes to bat for retro horror lovers - Hauntedween
What are the risks and/or challenges that will come with undertaking the making of the long awaited sequel to Hauntedween? How will we overcome them?
As a group we have a collective 20 years experience producing micro-budget horror. Every film production has its own unique problems to solve but our production powers include great organization and mad problem-solving skills, so we are confident that the risks on this project are minimal.
The biggest challenge is doing justice to the original Hauntedween. We want to make sure we strike the right tone in story, production design, humor and gore. Hauntedween 2 has to build on what the original film provided but also be able to stand on its own.
Our plan is simple: use the original film as the touchstone for all story and design decisions. It helps that Dustin Ferguson is a walking encyclopedia of information about Hauntedween and 80's/90's horror in general. Add in Dorothy and Chad's extensive experience making horror films "in the style of" and we feel like we're more than ready to meet this creative challenge.
Maybe you can't contribute right now, but you still want to help Eddie Burber come home. There's so much you can do!
