Pride rides deep in the Caldwell family! We did not wear the hottest sneakers or the
latest fashions, that didn’t matter. We
were taught to walk tall, be respectful, do our best and be our best because we
were the Caldwells. Athleticism as well
as academics was stressed in our home and we certainly excelled in both areas.
As was the norm, on the weekends and during the summer
breaks, we (Dion, myself and the Clanton Park crew) perused all the local parks
like, Freedom, Latta, Park Road, Southside
and Brookhill. It was normal for us to
walk up, wait and NOT be chosen to run with the person who had “next”. With clean t-shirts, plaid shorts and
whatever no-name-brand shoes our parents could afford, we were always
overlooked. Appearance is certainly not
indicative of the basketball talent and skills that we possessed and soon
everyone knew that.
Once we hit the court, we dominated the court. When we yelled
“game”, that’s when the trash talking would begin. Attractive wear doesn’t give you game. Heart, mental focus, killer instincts, and
practice, practice, practice develops you into a winner. Our attitude was, you may afford sports
attire that looks better, but you can’t out play us.
From our dominance on the courts and our genuine love of
sports in general, we became a household name. The backyard at the Caldwells
was the cool-aid hangout house with cars parked up and down Manchester Drive. Our popularity of being “trash talkers” was
as well known as our athleticism and academics.
Family and friends could quote our trash talking lines. We began to write them down.
Fast forward; college, military didn’t dull our senses for
trash talking nor dull our love for the game.
We decided to put our trademark quotes and trash talking lines on
t-shirts, thus, Hazzardous Sports Gear was born. Why?? trash talking 'T-shirts" only WINNERS!! talk trash. So common and be a WINNER and help our campaign> thank you with a 2 BROTHERS 1 MIND SMILE!
