Why We Created the Head Case Concussion Management System
Each year, 1 in 5 high school athletes sustains a concussion. Repeat concussions can cause memory loss, attention difficulties and long-term brain damage. There is currently no concussion management system on the market that measures and records impact data and provides tools to help diagnose a concussion. Due to this market gap, the health of young athletes is at risk. Concussions are a growing epidemic, but our affordable, three-part system can help protect young athletes from the risks of undetected, repeat concussions.
What is the Head Case Concussion Management System?
The Head Case Concussion Management System is an affordable, easy-to-use full circle program that measures head impacts, provides diagnostic tools to detect potential concussions and recommends the best treatment facilities available.
All head impacts, failed concussion symptom detection tests and diagnosed concussions are tracked over an athlete’s career to provide a lifelong head health record. This information helps to prevent traumatic brain injuries and long-term permanent brain damage due to repeated undetected concussions, through education and awareness.

The Three-Part System:
1. Head Case Impact Sensor
The impact sensor is a small device inserted into a helmet to monitor and record head impacts by measuring G-force through an accelerometer in the device. The sensor can be used in multiple helmets. By reviewing the athlete’s normal impact history and comparing to national averages, the Head Case Impact Sensor can detect impacts of concern and alert coaches, trainers and parents.
2. Head Case Mobile App
The Head Case Mobile App serves as a diagnostic tool that walks parents and coaches through a step-by-step field-side test to help detect symptoms of a potential concussion. If an athlete fails the concussion test, test results are automatically uploaded to the Head Case Website, and an alert is sent out to the designated emergency contacts. In the alert, information on local medical treatment facilities is immediately provided via the Head Case Mobile App.
3. Head Case Website
By signing in to the Head Case Website, athletes, parents and coaches can review an athlete's impact data on the Head Case Website along with analysis and reporting tools. Data can be compared to previous impact data as well as compared to team members and national averages. The Head Case Website is a comprehensive information portal and resource center for concussion education and concussion management.
