THE FILM
'Sarah, an introverted 17 year old living in Northampton, shuts out the world with music via her ever present headphones. When these break she is forced to interact with her surroundings. A coming-of-age drama in which elusive detachment must make way for blossoming new relationships.'
Headphones is the passion project of writer & director Thomas Line. Set in his home town of Northampton it centres on 17 year old Sarah, an introverted college student who wears headphones to block out her fractious home life. It is a tale of friendship set against the Northampton Underground music scene.
Here's a sneak peak at the script:

WHY SUPPORT HEADPHONES
We feel passionate about Headphones and believe it is a story worth bringing to the screen, a film that brings strong female characters to the foreground, deals with the difficulties of adolescence but is also entertaining!
We also hope the film can help put Northampton on the filmmaking map. Situated in the Midlands, Northampton is a traditional market town well known for its history in shoe making but less well known in the film industry. We want to show off some of the fantastic locations the town has to offer.
Headphones is a story we want to tell with Northampton talent. We are currently in the process of auditioning local actors for the film from the University of Northampton so we can give them the experience of working on a short film.
We are also currently in discussions with Northampton bands and musicians that we want to feature on the soundtrack. Not only will this give them exposure but it is also vital to the films story set against the Northampton underground music scene.
As Masters students, this film is the culmination of our studies and our most ambitious film to date, but beyond our studies we also wish to enter the film into festivals, elevating our profiles as storytellers and filmmakers.
So we have the story, the equipment and the crew. We just need money to help with the cost of production so we can make the best film we possibly can!
WHAT WE NEED
The £500 raised through this campaign will go towards:
- Van hire to transport the equipment to and from locations.
- Cost of locations
- Food for all the cast and crew
- Props and costumes
In return we are offering a range of perks, including a 'Special Thanks' credit, a signed copy of the original script and the opportunity to appear as an extra in the film. We are also offering a limited number of 'Executive Producer' credits!
If we are unable to reach our target, whatever we do manage to raise will go towards our main priorities, the van rental and locations.
SPREAD THE WORD
If you can't back our campaign financially, don't worry, you can still help. If you can tell your friends, family, like our Facebook and Twitter pages and just spread the word that would be incredible!
