Short Summary
Hello, My name is Billy Skinner and I'm the director for 'Headspace'. I'm originally from Nottingham but have since moved south. In London, I am currently in my final year of university at Ravensbourne where I study Digital Film Production. Over the last five years, I have worked on and directed numerous projects including short films and music videos.
I was inspired to make 'Headspace' from watching many music videos that hold a narrative structure to them. I am particularly fond of videos like Sia's - The Greatest, which explores the story through dance.
The style of videos which explore real life problems through dance and music I find to be the most emotive, so I wanted to create my own. We are composing the music and choreographing the dances to reflect the story I have created.
The idea behind 'Headspace' is based on the loss someone you love. Something everyone goes through in their lifetime, it's very unfortunate and I want to explore the emotional battle people go through to rebuild themselves after such tragedies. Drawing from my own experiences I truly believe this project will deliver a genuine message that even in the darkest of times, eventually, things get better!
We are campaigning to raise funds to pay for equipment, locations, dancers and rehearsal space. We want this project to be the best it can be and in order to do that we to raise additional funds, we don't have. So we need your help!
With your help, we will be able to spend time with our dancers perfecting the routines and pay for equipment currently not accessible to us. We will also be using your contributions to feed our whole cast and crew for the duration of the shoot.
What We Need & What You Get
I am asking the Indie Go Go community and other aspiring creatives for £2,500. I am already putting up my own money, however, what I have doesn't quite cover the costs.
Here is a list of some of the things your contributions will help provide for 'Headspace':
- Pay for locations
- Travel for all crew and equipment over the duration of shooting.
- Rehearsal space, paying dancers & choreographers.
- Production design & Set building.
- Additional equipment hire.
- Post production editing and colour grading.
By contributing to our project you will get access to some unique perks. These perks include:
- Concept art
- Digital download of the music album from the film
- Film Posters
- BTS photos
- Executive producer credit
- Invited to a screening before release
- *Everyone who donates will be given access to view the film online once released.
Even if we don't manage to reach our goal of £2,500 your money won't go to waste! We still plan on making our film. Any money we make will be used to add to our production in order to make it the best it can be!

The Impact
My team and I really want the film to get us somewhere; Many of us want to break into the music video industry with our fresh ideas and we hope this project helps us do just that. We plan on entering into many BAFTA recognised festivals in hopes to be screen and maybe even win some awards. This will make myself and the team's profiles more known within the film industry and will further our careers.
If you contribute you will be helping many young creatives with a passion for filmmaking that little bit closer to their goals!
Risks & Challenges
Working with a story that is completely driven by the music and dancers is quite a challenge. Being a filmmaker, you tend to learn how to direct dialogue-driven narrative. With this project having no dialogue it will be hard for myself and the team to express the same emotive drive in the film, however, we have been working on the music for many months to make sure the music amplifies how the dancers are feeling within each scene.
For the logistics, we are filming around south London. We may have some issues due to transporting equipment, cast and crew. This could result in being costly to the production. We have been doing a lot of planning to ensure the whole film sticks to schedule. I am confident we will be able to pull this off!
Other Ways You Can Help
We know that not all of you are able to contribute to our project! All we ask for you is to share our campaign and spread the word. The more people who know about this ambitious project the better!
Anything you do for our project will be very much appreciated!
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
