In April we will be traveling to Bhaktapur, Nepal, to volunteer at the Siddhi Memorial Foundation Hospital. The foundation is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization that focuses on affordable care for women, children, and the elderly. On average, the physicians at SMF handle about 100 cases in their out-patient department and 30 patients in their pediatric urgent care facility per day. The foundation also provides educational funding for underprivileged children and medical students. SMF suffered damages and closed due to the 2015 earthquakes and subsequent flooding, but reopened to provide care for thousands of people injured by the disaster. Because of the flooding the hospital has equipment shortages and is still in need of repairs.
The volunteer coordinator at Siddhi Memorial Foundation has requested for us to bring small hand-held medical devices, such as otoscopes, pulse oximeters, and ear thermometers as well as basic supplies. Please help us reach our fundraising goal so we can provide SMF with much needed support.
We've included the cost of the three devices to give an idea of what a donation can buy. Give as little or as much as you would like. Any amount is appreciated and will help us reach our goal.
Thank you,
Sienna and Laura
