I'm working towards my goal of being a certified yoga instructor, but I need your help. I need to raise $1800 in order to pay the tuition for my yoga teacher training. I am in the process of becoming certified in teaching yoga, with the goal of bringing yoga to those in recovery or vulnerable populations. I specifically want to teach children and teens in foster care, the elderly in assisted living, people in recovery for trauma/addiction, and those in refugee and immigrant communities.

The practice of yoga has truly changed and saved my life. It has been the single most powerful tool in my recovery for PTSD, panic disorder, anxiety and depression. And now, I want to pass that along to others who can be helped.

When I think of ways to help me improve my quality of life and find fulfillment, especially in my work, it always comes back to teaching yoga. (Links that discuss how Yoga is proven to benefit many of the symptoms associated with trauma are below.

I truly believe that yoga has the power to heal the wounds we carry as a result of trauma. Links that discuss how Yoga is proven to benefit many of the symptoms associated with trauma are below.

Yoga has helped me: handle anxiety with breathing and mindfulness. built my confidence as I develop mastery over my body movements. self-compassion, as I work through the poses. practice sitting with discomfort. and meeting myself where I am.

When once again I searched for what would be a truly fulfilling career, I received the invitation to this particular teacher training. It turns out that my three favorite teachers are now teaching at this new studio. In fact, when I called, one of those teachers answered the phone!

The reason why i want to take this particular course are that it's taught by 3 of my favorite instructors, there is a teaching retreat, access to a mentor, direct opportunities for paid teaching, and access to all future 200 hour trainings (but only as a part of this first cohort). For these reasons, I took a leap of faith and enrolled in the training, which started July 27th, 2017.

One of the most difficult aspects of achieving my goal is asking for financial assistance. But through your contribution, I'll be able to share the gift of yoga with others who are struggling to find peace.

I have until September 5th to reach my goal, so I ask you to help me on my journey either by sharing a link to this fundraiser, or by donation. Thank you so much for your time and support. Namaste!
