Hi! I'm Alyssa You...
For the past four years, I have been working towards my Bachelor's degree at Loyola Marymount University within the School of Film and Television. My major in film production culminates in the completion of a short film that I have been anticipating since my freshman year.
It has always been my dream to become a director. As my academic career comes to a close, it is time for me to focus on my future as a filmmaker. This project is so important in jumpstarting my career in the film industry, and I need your help to make it happen!
What is the film about?
My film is titled "11:59". The film revolves around college students Parker, Ellie, and Grant. They are teaming up to complete their art history final the night before it is due. Tensions rise as Parker becomes increasingly jealous of Ellie’s boyfriend, causing unforeseen challenges to transpire. As the clock ticks closer to midnight, the three friends must persist to submit their final before it’s too late.
Why is this story important?
Planning and creating a story has been a challenge for me. The idea of crafting something meaningful felt overwhelming, but then, I turned to the movies that I love most. My favorite films are always the witty coming of age stories that explore the human experience, so, I sought to create my own version.
This story encapsulates the college experience, capturing a moment that feels all too familiar to anyone who has been there: the college final. Parker, Ellie, and Grant scramble to complete their project at the eleventh hour, but this story is not just about meeting deadlines. It is a whirlwind of emotions where stress and setbacks collide with the complexities of young love and friendship.
Why help fund this project?
Making a film is an expensive endeavor! As student filmmakers, our resources are limited. By donating to this project, you would not only be helping to get this film made, but you would also be giving me and my team of talented creatives (my fellow classmates) a jumpstart in our careers as filmmakers. With your help, I know we can make something that you will be proud to have been a part of .
Where will the money go?
Compensation and food for our amazing for cast and crew members (again, students!!)
Production costs including camera and lighting equipment rentals, materials for production design, wardrobe, makeup, and location permitting
Distribution costs associated with submitting to film festivals
Thank you!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my film. My team and I are so excited to make this project happen, and we will not be able to do it without your support!
