Short Summary

Hello beautiful people of IndieGoGo! I would love it if you can help me out in beginning my dream of getting my violin repaired/restored and ready for me to begin lessons!

Playing the violin is something I have been wanting to do for quite a few years now, and it's mostly the prices of the violins themselves and the tuition that has prevented me from being able to follow my dream of becoming a player.

I have found a violin from around the beginning of the 20th century, and I need your help to get it restored up to it's maximum potential.

As you can see from the images, it is cosmetically scratched.
It is in need of new strings, and the tuning pegs also need some work to be back to their full working capacity. There is also a part where the seam has begun to come apart; but my luthier assures me it is fixable.

What I Need & What You Get

What I will need:

• New strings for the violin
• Treatment for the body of the violin to make it look varnished and like new
• Fixed tuning pegs to ensure everything stays where it should be
• A seam repair on the base of the violin
• A brand new case, as mine is extremely old and breaking
• The bow will need to be re-strung ideally.

If I manage to go over my initial funding goal:

• I will be able to look into professional one on one violin lessons.
• I will be able to upgrade my replacement strings and the re-stringing of my bow to a higher, more professional standard instead of the lower-cost version.
• I will be able to purchase additional accessories for my violin to keep it in top condition, such as a humidifier to ensure there are no more seam problems or cracks, and a much better case for it to keep it healthy with a long life.

If I do not reach my full goal, I will only be able to partly restore my violin to a condition that is playable and ready to start learning and playing on.

The Impact

This project is something I have wanted to be able to do for a long time. It is not only learning an instrument, it is a lifestyle choice. I want to be able to share my music with the world, and I believe I can do this with a violin. Now I have found one that can be used as a fully functional instrument, I don't want to skimp on any details of improving the quality and sound.

Risks & Challenges

As with all projects, there are risks and challenges. What may begin as a simple repair may end up taking longer than expected. However, this will just help to train my patience to be longer!

A challenge may be the timescale on which the luthier will be able to repair these issues and fix it up for me; one way I can succeed on getting around this is to start looking into musical books, or even look into borrowing a violin from a teacher and begin learning whilst mine is being transformed! Every challenge is just something new to learn from, and I wish to embrace them as much as the good outcomes!
