Hi! I'm Brooklyn Poutra and I'm a filmmaker at Texas State University. I'm currently working on my senior thesis film entitled 'POOL SHARKS'. This project is a love letter to my amazing female friends, and my goal is to chronicle the love, support, and fun I've found in them. This is girlhood!

POOL SHARKS is a story of friendship. The relationship between Cat and Jess is demonstrative of the absurdity, care, and compassion I hope everyone is lucky enough to find in a friend. I hope this project serves as a reminder that the human experience is intertwined, and it must be lived together.

Director's Statement:  When I first arrived at Texas State University, and for the subsequent year that followed, I felt as if I was missing out on a pinnacle collegiate experience of having a group of girlfriends to have fun with. As I spent more time here (and in the film program) I found incredible friends that I couldn't imagine my life without. The primary characters Cat and Jess are named after two of my best friends from high school and childhood, and this film serves as a reminder that your people are out there and that you will find amazing people in every season of life.
