Hello.
I'm Seela and I can do two things: I can sing and I can cook.
A few years ago I found myself at the Brooklyn Tabernacle up in the balcony section during a service. Everyone was singing and cheering...the place was packed. I had never been in such a place before...where so many people were openly praising God in one place. It kind of freaked me out, but in an overwhelmingly good way.
When a missionary got up in front of everyone to report on her recent work she said this quote: "When I finally meet my God I want to be out of breath from having chased him my whole life."
Whoa.
That really struck me. This idea of chasing after God. We are told that God is everywhere...so why then must we chase Him? Maybe because a lot of things are everywhere and they are not all God. So there is some seeking, some clues to find, some tracking...
I was inspired. I wrote a song called "Track You Down" and I liked it. (instrumental version is the soundtrack to the video above) Then I looked back on previous songs I'd written I realized that not only have I been tracking God down in the form of songwriting for some time now, but he has been using that same medium to track me down and draw me to him. Again, Whoa.
So here it is: a collection of inspired songs. Some were written years ago and never recorded, others were written this year and are played live regularly but also unrecorded until now. This is no where near a solo project as I had tons of help. Yes, musicians were paid, but I also fed them because A.) I can. (see first sentence) and B.) Isn't there just something about shared food that adds an element of comfort to all things? ...that turns work (and rehearsal) into fellowship?
So the album is recorded and in the process of being mixed. Next it must be mastered, squashed into CDs, and wrapped in pretty packaging. This is where you come in. Your contribution* to this campaign will allow me to finish this record in a timely manner, which I would very much like to do. The hope is to have a mid-October release with some fan fare. If the initial goal is exceeded, the fanfare can be greater, meaning hiring a publicist to make this record known farther than the reach of my unaided arm.
I think you will really like this album. I hope you do! I think it's beautiful and I am so thankful for the players that contributed. I am equally thankful for your support, encouragement, and contribution to this campaign, and for nourishing this project and widening the fellowship.
Sincerely,
-Seela
