SEWW At a Glance
Southeastern Women's Wrestling (SEWW) is a group of female and female-identifying performers currently based in Athens, Georgia. Through spectacle, these bad ass babes are reclaiming the sport from hyper-masculinity and subverting sexualized stereotypes of females to promote a body-positive space free from the male gaze where fantasy alter egos can be constructed, cultivated, and performed.

Our campaign is important to us, because, hello??? Did you read the previous paragraph? We need to raise money for wrestling events that empower badass women. This is important to us as wrestlers and to you as viewers. Don’t you want to be part of an authentic uplifting space? Yeah we thought so, that’s why you’re here! WITH YOU we can cover costs of our wrestling ring, design and print posters to hang around town to increase hype (YEAH we have some badass artists/wrestlers that design our logo, t-shirts, posters, and zine pages), and to eventually obtain an LLC license, which would be a fancy way of saying we are officially legit.
If you donate, THANK YOU. You are awesome and because of that, we are all awesome together. Spread the word and MARK YOU CALENDAR FOR WRESTLEWOMANIA ON APRIL 28th (the next wrestling event, obviously. Did we mention you get into it for free if you donate $5 or more???).
What We Need
Are you a math-nerd number crunching geek? Perfect! Here is where we break down the numbers for how the donations are distributed.

We are raising money for our next three matches:
The most important part is the ring, this is $250 per day, with three matches that would be $750.
A professional wrestling license would help SEWW to continue to grow and develop by becoming an official organization, which in turn will provide more opportunities for crazy cool lady wrestling events in the Athens area! It costs $100 to apply for an LLC. (We’re at $850 now for all you math geeks).
Printing materials (ink, artist’s time, paper) for posters and zine articles. This will be about $100 for the three matches.
Sound system for wrestling events so you can listen to our BOSS announcer, Colette: $50.
IF we do not get full funds, wrestlers will pay out of pocket and be grateful for the amount that we did raise. AGAIN did we say THANKS yet for donating? Thanks, you’re the best.
Let's Get Perky!

The Impact

This project is valuable to the world, at least the Athens and surrounding areas world. As women, we are SICK AND TIRED of having the media, our peers and our partners, telling us how we are supposed to act, dress, talk, and express our gender or sexuality. SEWW allows women to explore their inner personality that is formed authentically, reflectively, and intentionally. Having women carry out this task, while having other people observe and also reflect, creates a better place for us all. We have put on 3 wrestling events in the past, and let me tell you, its fun and inspiring. So, let’s do this together!
How Else Can You Help?
If you’re on social media, SPREAD THE WORD. (I mean, if you’re not on social media how the hell did you get here?). Retweet, regram, repost, send an email, send a hand written letter to your grandma (you should do this regardless), talk about the coolness of SEWW at the water cooler, pass a note on a piece of toilet paper under a bathroom stall, get drunk at a bar and rant to strangers about how they should donate to SEWW’s indiegogo, get the QR code to this website tattooed on your forehead, or go to the library and place SEWW fliers inside random books. You’ll figure it out, you’re smart (that is why you donated, after all).
