My Name is Jackie Oni; a director of UK registered Charity called God’s Children Empowered Ltd.

It was a cold Nov morning in 2005 when I got the inspiration, to build a school for poor children in a town named Ile ife in Africa. I had no money or land but the urge to do this was overwhelming. I immediately got almost 4 acres of land donated to the school project free by my late Father and approached my work bosses to assist in getting funds raised . To my utter amazement, we had raised enough funds to build the school within 18 months. I was able to get God fearing people on the ground who (a) became the trustees of the school, project managing the school as well as recruiting staff and children. We wanted to ensure that the children are poor so there were interviews done on site but followed up with unannounced house visits by the admission committee. The children are fed hot meal for lunch, transported, uniformed and educated all free of charge to them . The school is supported by setting up child sponsorship schemes where family, workmates and friends paid £20 per child per month which paid for the expenses of running the school. We now have almost 100 children at the school called Omolade and Adetoro Sijuwade memorial school. We also have 12 children who have passed thru the school and have now gone to secondary school where we still continue to sponsor them, I say WE but this consists of me, workmates, friends and family. I have realised that as we have moved to 5 years of running the school, I need to start looking at the long term survival of the school hence the reason I am raising awareness so that any member of the public can help by providing funds for this worthy cause. I am pleased and proud to say that the children are doing very well at their secondary schools.
