Why help North Koreans?
For many North Koreans, hunger and fear are a daily reality. People are arrested, tortured, sent to prison camps, or executed, sometimes with their whole family.
That’s why when they decide to flee their country – at the risk of their lives – we do everything we can to help them reach safety. Life Funds for North Korean Refugees has been helping North Korean refugees reach safety for 17 years. We have helped over 300 people reach new lives in a safe country.
And now, we’d like you to be a part of what we do. Our campaign goal is to raise enough funds to bring one North Korean refugee to safety. For that one person, your contribution means everything.

Bringing one North Korean refugee safely to a third country costs around $10,000, including transportation and everything else they need along the way.
That’s why our campaign goal is the amount we need to bring one person to safety, where they can start a new life: $10,000. But even if we don’t raise that full amount, we will still put every penny raised toward a rescue mission for a North Korean refugee.
To be honest, we’d like to close our doors forever. We’d like our work to no longer be necessary. But for as long as our help is needed, we’ll continue to do everything we can to help North Korean refugees who are desperately trying to reach safety.

Risks & Challenges
As you can probably imagine, fleeing North Korea is not as simple as crossing a river into a new country. North Koreans face many dangers on their journeys, and nothing is guaranteed.
We have 17 years of experience helping them, and we use that experience and our networks to do everything within our power to make sure they reach safety. We have brought over 300 North Koreans to safety to date. We work closely with our partners in the region, with whom we’ve been working a long time. And we never work with organizations or individuals who could jeopardize the safety of those we are trying to help.
