Food Matters enough that people have passed down vegetable seeds to their children. Food is a necessity, an undeniable constant for our existence. Food is a way to communicate with past, present and future generations.

Chef Wyatt Evans has been sharing his passion for food with the city of St. Paul for over a decade. He is best known as the Executive Chef of WA Frost and Company (2009-2015). In July of 2015 Wyatt began renovating a former bakery and photography studio on the corner of Marshall and Cretin, in the Merriam Park neighborhood, into his dream restaurant. This campaign is to support the renovation of our new space which we hope will bring an approachable and elevated dining destination to the neighborhood.

Heirloom is the kind of place to walk into, be yourself, listen to some good music, feel welcome, grab a drink and eat some impressive food. It's a nice little eatery in a cool (but not too cool) neighborhood.

Heirloom’s cuisine is guided by the same principals as the traditional farmhouse: frugality, seasonality and community. We translate those guidelines into a modern language of food. Spontaneous but pensive, preserved but forward thinking, rustic but refined. Our ingredients are dictated by the seasons, our techniques are dictated by our craftsmanship. Our mind is on the future, our heart is in the past.

Utilizing seasonal bounties from farm and field, Chef Wyatt's network of local farmers and artisans help to produce dishes like Roasted Chicken with Baked Potato Puree and Autumn Vegetables to Black Pudding with Green Apple and Celery Root, we think Heirloom can be a dining destination for the neighborhood for years to come.

The name "Heirloom" is not only symbolic of an increasing awareness of where our food comes from, but a notion, of building something sustainable and lasting for the next generation. We believe it's about valuing our communities and their history.

What Your Money is Going Towards

Opening a restaurant is always a risk, and renovating an old St. Paul building has come with it's surprises. From adding an extra layer of ceiling to satisfy the fire inspector to relocating the steam pipes for our vintage heating units, we have concluded: WE NEED HELP!

In addition to helping us with the build out, your money will help purchase barn board to finish the walls, an additional restroom to accommodate our guests and a custom "chef's counter" that seats 5 guests for a great view of the action.

We are asking you to support us in reaching our $50,000 goal so that we can make Heirloom a home for us all.

Renovations are underway and our space is looking more like Heirloom everyday!
