Did you know that 1 in 100 adults living in the U.S. likely have OCD? Did you also know that on average, it takes up to 17 years between onset of symptoms and access to effective treatment due to stigma around mental health issues, and lack of awareness about available treatment options?
The International OCD Foundation is working to change that, and
you can help us by making a gift today.
Your gift to the IOCDF will help to support valuable
resources for people living with OCD, their family, friends and treatment
providers:
- The IOCDF Training Institute is working to
increase the number of mental health professionals who effectively treat OCD
and related disorders. The Training Institute recently expanded to offer
specialty trainings for pediatric OCD, and hoarding disorder, and plans to
continue developing trainings and curriculum to continue working to improve
care for the entire OCD community.
- The family of IOCDF websites provides resources
and support for people living with OCD, their families and treatment providers,
including a comprehensive Resource Directory that helps individuals locate
treatment and resources in their own communities. The new & improved iocdf.org was launched earlier this
fall, and a brand new website for individuals with Body Dysmorphic Disorder will launch this month! Your support will enable us to continue to upgrade and
expand all of our web resources, including the dedicated websites for Hoarding Disorder and OCD in Kids.
- The Pediatric Outreach Program endeavors to
train pediatricians and primary care physicians on how to better diagnose and
find effective treatment for kids and young adults with OCD.
- IOCDF OCD Awareness Initiatives are helping to
change the way that people think about OCD and do away with commonly held stigmas.
The Impact
Whatever amount you chose to give to #GivingTuesday – your
gift will have a direct impact on the life of someone living with OCD or a
related disorder.·
- Your gift will help a person living with OCD
find a treatment provider using the online Resource Directory.
- Your gift will help a therapist learn how to
better help their patients by using evidenced-based treatments learned in the
IOCDF Training Institute.
- Your gift will help how the public thinks about
OCD through IOCDF Awareness Initiatives like the 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Walk and
OCD Awareness Week that shatter stereotypes and stigmas.
- Your gift will change the lives of individuals
and families through the IOCDF’s Annual OCD Conference — bringing together
suffers and treatment providers to form a community of understanding and
support.
