You probably have read and seen shocking news about flooding in Tbilisi that happened on 13th of June, 2015.

Unfortunately, the most epicenter of this darkest day has been Tamaz Elizbarashvili's dog shelter". That night just in 5 minutes "Killer Vere" flooded shelter and as the result killed more than 300 dogs and 10 bears. All infrastructure is  destroyed..shelter staff hardly survived!

Shelter before

..And Shelter after..

"Tamaz Elizbarashvili's Dog Shelter" was non-governmental and nonprofit oriented, single-man owned No-Kill dog shelter located in Georgia, Tbilisi.

Probably the largest shelter of Eastern Europe has been established in 2004 by Georgian entrepreneur Tamaz Elizbarashvili. Fundamental idea of establishment was  to shelter and afterwards rehome abandoned, lost and injured dogs.

Since 2004 shelter saved and gave new home to 4,000 four-legged friends. Shelter dogs and bears were having all appropriate conditions in order to remained in a good physical  and psychological condition - Open and closed cages, wooden kennels, meals ( twice per day), outdoor walking and medical care. Shelter also provided free medical support for all rehomed dogs.

Tamaz also have been very passionate about school educational program. His idea to solve stray dog problems in Georgia was to educate young generation how to treat, love, be loved and  live with animals. Unfortunately, his mini cinema and special educational center didn't came up to the light and that infrastructure also is  victim of river Vere..

Tamaz and shelter ruins..

Today shelter needs to be rebuilt from scratch on a new, safe place. Tamaz will not be able to make this alone without your support, we need to come together!
