Growing the Future of Music Education!

Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) has been serving students and teachers across Wisconsin for 80 years. Over 100,000 students participate in our programs each year, including:

• Solo & Ensemble and Concert Group Music Festivals
• Wisconsin State Honors Music Project, which showcases the best of the best students musicians both in middle school and high school
• Launchpad a competitive garage band competition
• Many others

In addition we provide meaningful support to school music teachers across the state from the Wisconsin Center for Music Education, the only facility of its kind in the nation. 

Updated Technology Needed

WSMA strives to serve school districts in every corner of the state regardless of distance from our offices in Dane County (South Central Wisconsin). However, through the purchase and use of a SMART Board as well as upgrades to our technology we believe we can serve the entire state more directly and meaningfully at a reduced cost to school districts.

Incorporating this new technology at the Wisconsin Center for Music Education would enable WSMA to:

• Provide professional development specific to music educators in the use of SMART Technology, currently being used in school districts in Wisconsin.
• Offer an enhanced experience for teachers, students, and visitors who use our facilities for workshops, meetings, and fieldtrips.
• Help incorporate distance learning for professional development workshops and enhanced music courses for students whose schools cannot afford to offer them into our operations.

The total cost of this project is $10,000 which includes a SMART Board, SMART Document Camera, new laptop and training on the use of the board. We have raised over half the funds needed to finish this project thanks to the Lunda Charitable Fund and other private donations.
