Short Summary
Prosperis is a civil society organization (registered, with tax ID, bank account, accountant, stamp etc), whose mission is to promote art and cultural exchange, primarily through music. Our team members are musicians of several generations, both instrumentalists and vocals. We come from Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the need to reconcile a post-conflict and transitional society is still great.
Our campaign is about raising funds to start a music recording studio, in order to provide space and means to young musicians from across the country to record music. The goal and purpose of the studio would be to facilitate preserving cultural heritage, as we are a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious country. These beautiful features of our country are used by people in power to actually divide instead of unite people. We intend to mix and match young musicians from all over the country, so they can broaden their horizons by getting to know others like them, and by making music together that can connect rather than divide the young generations who are the future of our country. The idea is to give back to the community/society, with only a number of recording projects per year for profit, in order to cover the studio's operational costs and be self-sustainable.
All those generous people who decide to support our campaign will not only directly contribute to the making of music by young talented musicians, but more importantly, to the reconciliation, broadening of young people's horizons, though creative musical art, and helping them realize that preserving and cultivating diversity and richness of our country is a way forward, as opposed to stereotypes, prejudice and division.
What We Need & What You Get
Our goal is to raise USD 28.000, or 25.000 Eur, to purchase used equipment for a music recording studio, because we realize new equipment is expensive (computer, audio interface, headphones, microphones, studio monitors, keyboard controller, digital audio workstation, software, musical instruments, and materials for wall isolation and recording area isolation).
You would be the first to receive new singles, on CDs or in any other format you prefer. You may choose to listen to this music with your friends and family, send it to a local radio station, or simply enjoy it during your car rides and as you do it, say "I helped make this happen".
Should we fail to reach our entire goal, the full amount, we will use as much as we have raised to purchase as much equipment as we can, and continue to look for other sources of funding so that the studio can start to operate.
The Impact
While we are aware that bringing people together through music is not a new or revolutionary idea, if you choose to support us, you will be making a contribution towards a healthier society, whose youth recognizes that all that keeps them apart is prejudice, and music is one of the most common interests they share. Youth in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina, even 20 years after the end of the armed conflict, still travel little or not at all to parts of the country where they are not an ethnic-religious majority. They know little about other parts of the country, and their horizons remain limited, thus deepening the prejudices. Music is an ideal way to put them together, something they share, have in common. We see music as a platform to facilitate their better understanding of each other, and encourage them to preserve, through musical art, the richness of the country's musical heritage.
Risks & Challenges
Each idea and each project may face obstacles or risks associated with it. While we are optimistic and trust that we will be able to raise the required funds, the obstacle we see is that of actually engaging young musicians to participate and use our studio as a facility. We intend to remedy this by resorting to our well developed network of contacts (among musicians, civil society organizations), by using social networks to promote our project/studio, and approaching the existing youth organizations/networks.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you like our campaign, but are not in a position to contribute, perhaps you may wish to share our story (using Indiegogo share tools) and help us get the word out. And we thank you for that too.
