Yes, the whole internet!

Once upon a time, the internet was a free place, where you could escape the burdens of real life and emerge yourself in your own little virtual world. Until one day, when censorship took over all of it, turning this safe haven into a space full of restrictions. All but one little firm located in Bucharest, Romania, which decided to fight against censorship and reboot the internet back to the safe place we all know and love.

And here we are: A start-up VPN firm called CyberGhost, and we were first founded because we wanted to give people an alternative. We wanted them to be able to free themselves of all internet restrictions, access blocked data and feel secure while doing it. Our company is already established and our product is used by many people, but unfortunately, we have a 1 GB traffic limitation in our free service. Why? Because we already pay for hundreds of terabytes of data and we have no ads or other annoying things there to get some money back. Right now the free service is co-financed by the subscribers of our paid premium network. But we think that there are a lot of people out there who need access to a free, fast and reliable VPN network. Our goal is to offer a free service without ads and with unlimited traffic and to provide more options to choose from when it comes to servers’ locations and the amount of IP addresses available for people who can’t afford a subscription in our paid network.

When will my Perks be delivered?

We will ship everything latest on the 31^st January 2013. The perks consisting in e-mails and listing you on our Supported by page will be accomplished by the end of December. The 1 year CyberGhost subscription and also the lifetime CyberGhost subcriptions will each be delivered as soon as possible, which means immediatly after we got your donation and one of our colleagues has the time to send you the serial code (give us 24h to do that).

Is there a charge for shipping outside the European Union?

Only for the $50 perk an additional charge to ship outside the European Union is needed. Please add 10 $ for delivery outside the European Union. Please include that in the checkout price. If you forget, we'll contact you prior to shipping to finalize those details.

For all the perks over $50 we will ship your Ultimate Merchandise Package to the end of January 2013.

If you don’t hit your goal, will this mean that you won’t improve your Free VPN?

If we don’t hit our goal, we will still improve what we can, by using the raised money. Have a look at our stretch-goals here:

• If we reach $25.000 we add servers in 3 countries (UK, France, USA)
• If we reach $50.000 we add servers in 3 more countries (Brazil, India, Canada)
• If we reach $75.000 we add servers in 3 more countries (Japan, Vietnam, Mexico)
• If we reach $100.000 we offer our Free VPN without traffic limitation and add more servers (2.000 IPs) in more countries than the ones that were mentioned above

Will this mean that CyberGhost VPN Free will have more servers?

If we raise the money, we will be able to pay for around 2.000 IP’s for a year. And we will make that pool available for both our Free and Paid service. We will rotate that IP-address pool, so that it takes around 6 months to run through the whole server pool. So some of them will be active to choose from, some of them will be in a waiting queue to “recover”. This will make it way harder for censors, content restrictors and other evil guys to block our IP range.

Why Indiegogo? Why are you going with the Gogos?

CyberGhost VPN is right now available all over the world –just like Indiegogo. We have users in America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. Our company is founded by some Germans, but we are located in Bucharest, Romania. Right now, we speak eight different languages in our company and we are fans of that international family thing. So we decided for a platform that is available all over the world and supports PayPal and regular Credit Cards payments to make the audience for that campaign as wide as possible.

One hundred thousand dollars seems to be a lot of money. Where is it all going?

On  one side, we pay a lot of money for the traffic you guys generate. We don’t know what you’re doing there, but we pay for hundreds of Terabytes every month. Then we pay for the rent of our server park and our IP-address pool. And we also need to pay rent, wages, health insurance, utilities and all the normal stuff that you pay for when you have twenty Ghosties working together. You see, that money seems to be a lot but it is finally just keeping the lights on while we do the things people expect from us: offer the best possible and fastest VPN service in the world.

What kind of timeline can we expect on these stretch goals regarding adding new servers?

For the things we can fulfill immediately, like adding new countries to our server list, we try to do that during the campaign. But everything should be achieved by the end of January 2013. For the stretch goals  above 100.000 $, we'll try to sprinkle them through the next year so that there's always something to look forward to.

What happens after a year? Are you going to make another Crowdfunding campaign?

This is valid for a period of 1 year. From January 2013 to December 2013. We will run the crowdfunding campaign again, next year around this time.

What happens if you raise more money than you asked?

Even better because then we can directly work for you and improve CyberGhost VPN. Look at our stretch goals above 100.000 $:

• If we reach $150.000 we offer our Free VPN without bandwidth-limitations for 1 month (right now we have a bandwidth-limitation of 2 Mbit/s)
• If we reach $200.000 we add 1.000 IPs more, so we have 3.000 IPs
• If we reach $250.000 we offer our Free VPN without bandwidth-limitations for 3 month (right now we have a bandwidth-limitation of 2 Mbit/s)
• If we reach $300.000 we add 1.000 IPs more, so we have 4.000 IPs
• If we reach $350.000 we offer our Free VPN without bandwidth-limitations for 6 month (right now we have a bandwidth-limitation of 2 Mbit/s)
• If we reach $400.000 we add 1.000 IPs more, so we have 5.000 IPs
• If we reach $450.000 we offer our Free VPN without bandwidth-limitations for 1 year (right now we have a bandwidth-limitation of 2 Mbit/s)
• If we reach $500.000 we will spread the word and organize a free open conference about privacy, security and freedom in Bucharest

Um, yes. Kind of.  And we are all happy that he has dozens of it, so he is really wearing  a new one every day. What sizes do you offer on your t-shirt related rewards?

For men, S (small) to XL (extra large). For women, XS (extra small) to XL (extra large).

Do the upper perks include all previous rewards?

Unless the description of the reward says "you get all from $... perk," or it is a standalone reward.

The perks over $25 have a CyberGhost subscription included. Which one exactly?

These perks contain the best subscription available. At the moment, that is CyberGhost Premium Plus VPN with a worth of 159,99 USD. The duration is 1 year after activation. If we have a better subscription in our range by the end of January 2013, when we'll ship our perks, we will for sure, deliver that subscription.

What’s with that CEO call that is available from the $250 perk up?

You should give us your Skype account or landline number and Robert, our CEO will call you to make sure that we show our gratitude to what you did for us and the whole internet.

I want to claim the perk that allows me to adopt a Ghostie. How does that work?

I want to claim the perk that allows me to name a server. What names can I go for?

You can choose for the name of your company, your wife, your pet or your favorite heavy metal band. But we will keep the right to refuse names when they are connected to things we hate at CyberGhost VPN like racist, homophobic, xenophobic or any other chauvinistic remarks.

Can I really get a lifetime subscription for CyberGhost? What does that mean?

We will provide you with a magic serial code. This code will run for 99 years and will always contain the highest subscription level we offer. Like magic…

I want to have that place in your hall of fame. What does that mean?

You send us a picture of you and we will put that picture on a DIN A1 Poster together with all other “Lionheart of the Internet” and “Captain of the Flying Ghostman” and these will be hung-up in the office of our CEO, Robert. So he will always be reminded who helped him out.

I want to visit your HQ. How does that work?

Claim the $2.500 perk, buy a flight ticket and come over to Bucharest for a week or a couple of days. We accommodate you in the same Hotel we use for all our business guests and give you a desk in our HQ, so you can be a Ghostie for a while. We take care about you and show you the advantages of the Romanian capital Bucharest.

What do I get when I claim a dedicated server?

You get your very own private VPN server, together with all other servers in our server park. But this server is your precious; your very special place to be and you can share it with up to 49 or 99 friends. That means that you receive either 50 or 100 subscription serials from us.
