For the last 2 years Jennifer Shagawat, from Starcleaner Records and Shellshag, along with William E Badgley, director of the underground rock doc hit, "Kill All Redneck Pricks: A Documentary Film about a Band Called KARP" have been working with the original line up of the first all girl punk band, first wave British Punks, and the godmothers of Punky Reggae, The Slits on a feature length documentary film about the band... and now they are almost done!

この２年間、レコードレーベルStarcleaner Records、アメリカのパンクバンドShellshagのジェニファー・シャガワットは、アンダーグランド・ロックドキュメンタリー映画のヒット作『Kill All Redneck Pricks: A Documentary Film about a Band Called KARP（KARPというバンドのドキュメンタリー映画）』の監督、ウィリアム・E・バッジリー（通称ビル）とともに、初期のイギリスパンクシーンで初めて女の子だけで結成されたパンクバンド、そしてパンキーレゲエの創始者となったスリッツの長編ドキュメンタリー映画をバンドのオリジナルメンバーと一緒に制作してきました…そしてまもなく完成しようとしています！

The film is shot, nearly finished with the edit, and amazing deals have been struck to include an incredible amount of absolutely beautiful film footage of the band from the 70' and early 80's and a lot of it has never been seen before. Not too mention music! And Pictures! Now they just need the money to seal these deals and include the archival.

And the story of how this project got started is as incredible as the project itself... the film's executive producer, Jennifer Shagawat was brought on by Ari Up and Tessa Pollitt of the reformed Slits in 2006 to be their driver, tour manager, friend and confidant. Jennifer got to be very close to the band and worked tirelessly with them to bring their music and their vision to the world.

During this time Ari became more and more obsessed with documenting the band in hopes that she and Jennifer would be able to release a film documenting their art, spirit, and their struggle. What no one knew at this time was that Ari was very sick and slowly dying of cancer.

そんな中、アリはバンドの記録を撮ることにだんだん夢中になり、いつかスリッツのアート、精神、困難をまとめた映画をジェニファーと制作して公開できたら、と思うようになりました。そのとき誰も知らなかったのは、アリがひどく病気で、ガンが彼女の身体を少しずつ蝕んでいたことです。

When Ari passed away the film was not finished... so, after a period of mourning, and at the urging of The Slits bass player and friend, Tess Pollitt, Jennifer picked herself back up and set about the arduous task of completing the film... but the film was in pieces and Jennifer was on her own.

Jennifer decided that she needed some help... to this end she contacted a long time friend of hers, William E Badgley who had just finished touring The UK, Europe, and US with his self financed, self produced, and self booked film "Kill All Redneck Pricks: A Documentary Film about a Band Called KARP" a film chronicling the intimate friendship of three childhood friends as they experienced great setbacks and great joys in their art and in their lives, and the two of them set about making Ari's vision a reality.

ジェニファーはだれかに助けを求めようと決めました…というわけで、長年の友人であるウィリアム・E・バッジリーに連絡を取りました。ちょうど彼は自ら資金調達、制作、興行契約を行なった映画『Kill All Redneck Pricks: A Documentary Film about a Band Called KARP（KARPというバンドのドキュメンタリー映画）』を携えて、イギリス、ヨーロッパ、アメリカを周り終えたところでした。この彼の映画は、子供のときから仲良しだった3人の青年がバンドを結成し、その芸術観、人生観の中で経験した大きな逆行と大きな喜びを時代ごとに追っていくというものです。そういうわけで、2人はアリの構想を現実化していくことになったのです。

It hasn't been easy by any stretch of the imagination, but nothing worth doing ever is and now it's nearly completed, and with your help it will no doubt be a fantastic reality.
