Hi, my name is Roy Teo and thank you for your interest in
this campaign.
I have been in the yoyo industry for over 20yrs
and have been an international judge for over 10 years, traveling around the
world to various international competitions.
I have seen the evolution of the new generation of playing
styles and the requirement of a high performance BiMetal yoyo. Unfortunately performance comes with a price. Many of them are well beyond the means of many players with the top models going for hundreds of dollars.
I started this campaign because I’m seeing a missing
gap in the market. I wanted to create a BiMetal yoyo that is not only competition worthy but also affordable to everyone.
I decided to team up with YoyoRanger, a brand who shares the same vision as me. As an upcoming brand relatively new in the
market, I feel that it is the perfect collaboration to fulfill this dream together.
I chose to use crowdfunding to keep the price as low as possible for this first batch before we hit the retail stores where the price will go up. With crowdfunding, there is no middle man in the picture so the price you pay is as low as it gets!
The Hertz Story
To achieve this goal of bringing a high performance BiMetal yoyo into the hands of every player, we need help with funding.
I need to raise USD1500 which will go directly into the production costs for tooling and machining of the first batch of Hertz.
2 colours are available for purchase, Silver and Black. Early Backers will be able to get them at an affordable price of only USD55 each.

There will also be 10 Limited Edition Gold coloured Hertz, each individually serialised with a different logo.

The Hertz Design
While designing this yoyo, I drew ideas from early
prototypes and with feedback from top players in the region. I wanted it to be
a player’s yoyo, designed by players for players.
There were several factors that needed addressing. The size,
the weight, the material and the shape. Everything had to be perfectly in sync
and up to date with market trends and requirements.
It also has to be able to perform new generation tricks like
fingerspins and rejections with ease.
The final version of what I call the perfect
players' yoyo, the Hertz. It has a diameter of 56.9mm and a width of
43.4mm which is an ideal size and the perfect weight of 66g.
I used 6061 aluminium with a stainless steel rim for the
perfect weight distribution for both horizontal and vertical styles. There were more expensive alternatives like 7075 aluminium but i felt the increased cost didn't justify any significant increase in performance.
