Who am I and What is HIDING?

My name is Shawn Emerson Hakes. I am 20 years old, and I am a transgender man. I came out when I was 16 and I realized very quickly how lucky I was with the, mostly positive, experience I had. As I witnessed a close friend go through the opposite experience, I felt compelled to highlight the differences, as well as the similarites between the two.

It hurts my heart to see parents who do not accept their children for who they are. I wanted to create something for those parents who may see my film and may hopefully think twice before dismissing their child's feelings and identity.

What We Need

My goal for this film is $2,000. This money will go to paying and feeding my incredible cast and crew, as well as various props and equipment needed to produce the film.

The Impact

I hope to create a film that helps trans teens who are wanting to come out but may be afraid, and parents who have trans teens who may be on the fence about whether or not to encourage them on that journey.
