HIGH ROLLERS is a 10 minute long coming of age film set in London, it explores how current young generations feel about the decisions they make and the choices they make in finding happiness and fulfilment.
In a dysfunctional family, Dan a young adult is the responsible guardian for his youngest sister Jasmine. The short fiction will be set during the night that Dan loses his job and coincidently Jasmine receives the college offer to study abroad, which she is hiding form her brother. We will follow these characters through the chaotic nightlife in London seeing how they struggle to communicate and be honest with each other. Will the choices and decisions they have made push them apart even further apart throughout this long and endless night?
We are a small crew of diverse & talented filmmakers and individuals formed from the second year of the LCC (University of The Arts London) Film Practice course. We have unlimited passion and perseverance to make this film.
To make this film into a reality we will need your help!
Any money that we raised would be used to gather the specific locations we are looking to use within the city of London which often entail a high cost. One of the most important scenes in the film will be set up in a casino. To reach the feeling set in these gambling places we are obliged to get a real location to achieve the emotion we are looking to attain.
We want to portray the London as the energetic and unpredictable city that is is and also bring an extra level of depth to the story using the soundtrack and the set design to create a unique and vibrant feel in each particular space.
To achieve this and realise our vision we will also need to acquire the necessary kit and materials to complete the look and feel of each scene.
We are looking to raise £1900 to complete the film’s budget, which will go to cover all the expenses below.
Equipment: Lenses, Stabiliser, Slider, Lighting
Sound: Copyright, Composer
Art Department: Props, Wallpaper, Furniture hiring, Casino permission, Pub dressing, Costume
Actor expense: Food & Travel
Transport: Equipment and Car Rental
Film festivals: Submission
Feel free to explain more about your campaign and let people know the difference their contribution will make:
Our director Diana wanted to show the human and family connections in a setup that is really close to her. Since she came from quite big family with six siblings, that was for sure the most intuitive for her when writing the script. This was almost a vehicle to portray a social reality through the dense and complex relationship between a brother and a sister. Because somehow ultimately siblings could be another version of us that picked a different life in the same generational loop . They share the same bios and the same social environment.
It’s a coming of age film in a subtle way. The film will explore how our generation feels about the decisions we make and the way how we look out for happiness and fulfilment in a really broad way. This conflict existent in our human nature that when we reach something that we believe we wanted we still unsatisfied about ourselves. We want to explore how this endless search and the number of options that we have often leads us into a more shallow reality than we originally hope for.
Every project comes with its own unique risks and challenges.
We are filming throughout January at night we have to make sure we ensure that all the crew is prepared to confront the harsh weather during that time.
Also, the fact that we are doing certain night shots outside in London which is quite busy and unpredictable, extra precautions will be needed to ensure the safety of our staff crew and equipment.
The bike scene which take place throughout London as our characters travel towards their destination is a great example of this as there are many parts of this scene that could be dangerous if not planned correctly.
Under the university, our cast and crew as well as our equipment are covered by insurance and we are carrying out extensive risk assessments try to avoid any possible accidents throughout production.
We would be eternally grateful if you could donate or choose one of our perks, but we also understand that if you are unable to contribute financially.
there are numerous ways to help us, you can share our fundraising campaign on your social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or among your friends, that would help us an incredible amount and bring us much more closer to reaching our goal.
