Short Summary

Have you ever imagined spending the rest of your life with someone?

How about a complete stranger?

Margot, our main character, sees this fantasy come to life when she spots the “man of her dreams” in a coffee shop. Hotspot is a short film that explores the mind of a hopeless romantic who learns that her dreams are far from her reality.

My name is Kirstyn Kubicki, and my partner Stephen Morand and I are bringing this fantasy to life. From writing the story to the last day in the editing room, Stephen and I are planning to challenge ourselves as filmmakers to create the best possible romantic comedy we can.

With your help, Hotspot will premiere on May 10, 2020, at The Loft Cinema in Tucson, Arizona. The University of Arizona's film program offers so much to its students, but unfortunately, there's no money set aside for these films. Our project, and many others like it, are made possible from the kindness of donations like these.

Thank you.

What Your Donations Help With

Location (~$500): If you thought that putting on a wedding was expensive, just try renting out a coffee shop. It has always been crucial to our story that it take place within a coffee shop and we really want to keep this dream alive. A wedding in a coffee shop? Now how many movies have done THAT before?

Production Design(~$400): Did someone say wedding? Yes, that is right there will be a wedding within this short film. And you know what every good wedding and short film have in common? Money.

Craft Services (~$300): Our amazing crew is offering their time, talent, and physical labor for three days, 12 hours a day, for FREE. We would love to at least repay them with decent food.

Equipment (~$200): What would a movie be without equipment. Well, nothing. While the University of Arizona is providing most of the equipment necessary to shoot, certain equipment is unavailable to us and will need to be rented from a local rental company.

Risks & Challenges

At this point, we can’t promise that it will be funny, but we can promise that it will get finished. Your donation, whether it $1 or $100, will make a world of difference for completing our film. With this money, we will make this film look as good as possible. Can you imagine if it was funny AND good?!
