WHAT IS THIS PROJECT?
![]()
HUMANIA! will be an 88-page, full-color collection of 25 of the best webcartoonists contributing their favorite comics strips about pets & animals. In addition to the comics, the book contains a brief (humorous) biographical section about each artist, a foreword, and an afterword. For this edition, Alex Cohen, creator of Tiny Snek Comics will be writing the foreword.

WHO MAKES THESE BOOKS?
![]()
"Projects like this are the reason we get up in the morning. When David calls, we're in."
—Jonathan Kunz & Elizabeth Pich, War and Peas
David Daneman considers himself to be "the DenMother of Webcomics" — a term he feels he's earned as the world's foremost publisher of webcomic collections and the host of The PodComics WebCast, a podcast devoted solely to the art of the gag strip.
HUMANIA! will be his eighth anthology in four years following Launch Party, Art Block, Block Party, Ships, and Big Mood (all humor collections), in addition to the non-fiction collections iMMigratitude - tales of Asian immigration and The Out Side : Trans & Nonbinary Comics.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE
These photos are exactly what Humania! will look like, even if they are technically photos of Big Mood. Coincidentally, if you are interested in owning the entire themed trilogy (love & relationships / awkward & anxious / pets & animals), simply pledge at the TRILOGY tier, but hurry up! Supplies are limited!! ![]()
AND THERE'S STICKERS!
Slap 'em on your laptop, skateboard or the inside of your locker door; these 3-inch, vinyl stickers are perfect for gifting yourself with a sensible chuckle. In addition, pledging at the BOOK + 3 STICKERS tier helps us reach our goal faster, so if you want to get the book and support the project just a little bit more, then the BOOK + 3 STICKERS tier is for you!

WHY WE NEED YOU
![]()
At the moment, there aren't a lot of places to find collections of webcomics. Since the big dog publishers haven't stepped up to print and pay these fine artists, we will. Rest assured that every artist is paid per comic per copy of the book sold. In fact, the majority of the budget (37%) is devoted solely to paying the cartoonists.
We simply can't do this without you.
HOW WILL THIS GET MADE?
Our goal is ~$12320 USD. This is how that money will be spent.
![]()
Our goal is to find 350 people to buy a book each. The book costs $25 (USD) and the average shipping cost is $7. The financial goal of 12320 is (350x32)(1.1). The 1.1 represents the portion that Indiegogo takes for themselves and credit card processing. We promise the math checks out!
WHERE & WHEN?
The book will be printed in Canada.
The campaign will finish in mid November. It usually takes a month to collect all of the artwork from the creators. Another month is then needed for printing, which means the books will arrive from the printers in February. I feel confident that I can get 98% of backers their books before the end of March 2023.
It seems important to add here that COVID-19 has really changed the way the world works and that some estimates are that packages take 8 - 75 business days for international delivery. However, I successfully delivered the books for four Kickstarters in 2020/2021, so I can say that I have as good handle on it as anybody. Last, I always do my best so that everyone receives their books on time, and that lost/returned books are replaced.
WHY?
These books are for people who love animals, who love to laugh, or who love the art form of short, funny comic strips. If you are love one or more of these things, then this book is for you! These books are also a great way to support the artists you love, discover new one to start reading, and show anyone who can see your coffee table that you have great taste and support the arts.
My advice is to buy two and give one to a friend. ;)

RISKS & CHALLENGES
The biggest challenge we face is finding the 350 people to buy a copy of the book each (or 175 to buy two!). If every artist can find one person every day for 17 days, that gets us to 425 people, but in reality all of them are on me. That's why I'm working my butt off over here!
What do I risk? -- Only my time and our reputation. I've been working on this campaign for months and if it doesn't fund, it won't be the end of the world, but it would likely mean the end of my adventures in publishing. If you want books like this to exist, then I recommend stepping up and making it happen. With any luck, we'll hit that 100% in the first 72 hours, but more than likely, we'll get there in the final 72.
SHARING = CARING!
The easiest way to help the project is to pledge at the highest level you can afford. Then share with someone who loves comics and/or someone who loves animals. If you can't afford to join us right now, but still want to help, the single easiest way to do this is to share the project on social media. Thanks!
