Who We Are
EcoEquitable is a dynamic, women-led charity and social enterprise based in Ottawa. We employ immigrant and marginalized women to transform discarded and recycled fabrics by sewing them into beautiful things like conference bags and corporate gifts. We transform materials, people, situations, environments, perspectives, and the world.
We are women crafting a better story.
Summary
In the midst of this unprecedented global pandemic, our healthcare workers are heroes. As most of us are quarantining and cooped up in our homes, they are on the front lines and risking their lives every single day in order to save the lives of others. So we decided to find some small way to thank them for everything that they do.
As it turns out, wearing a surgical mask all day every day is hard on your ears. It becomes incredibly painful. That’s the daily reality of the people who are dedicating themselves to helping others. In order to show our thanks in some small way, we’ve created a solution—a headband with buttons on it that they can hook the mask onto. Since we can’t give them all hugs and tell them how grateful we are, this is our way of showing every single one of them that we are all in this together.
We want to create thousands of these headbands and send them to as many healthcare workers as possible. We will begin with Ottawa hospitals and health facilities, then Ontario, and then all of Canada. Let’s do everything we can to make the lives of our healthcare workers just a little bit easier.
Note that all contributions are eligible for a charitable receipt. We will mail out all receipts at the end of the campaign for donations $20 and over. Thank you!
The Impact
We need your help to buy fabric, employ our seamstresses, coordinate the effort, properly sterilize everything, and cover postage, so that we can show healthcare workers across Canada how thankful we are for them and everything they do.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can't help financially, that's okay. We totally understand. You can still support the campaign just by sharing this page with others!
