SHORT COMEDY FILM: 'HURKLE DURKLE'.
Hi there! I hope you are well and having a great day, I hope it's filled with dance moves and also biscuits. My name is Megan and I am a Filmmaker, recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, I am hugely passionate about writing and directing surreal, fun comedies and I'm asking for some financial help, to create a fun and vibrant short film.
THE STORY
Ûna has created an entire orbiting world for herself within the comfort of her fluffy, 2000 tog, egyptian-cotton duvet. Inside it, she spends her time thumbing through ludicrously obscure social media videos while drifting in and out of reality. In stark contrast to her reality, her dreams are warm, vibrant and free, that is until her paralysis demon begins visiting her: ‘The Butterfly Man’. He is French and he loves to dance in an ominous fashion. One timeless, hazy day, upon waking up in a sweat - Ûna is confronted by her personified duvet, holding his (pillow)cases by the door, and in a Dot-Cotton-Eastenders-esque-90s-musical-montage, announces, that he must leave her.
Stubborn and unwilling to chase her cotton best friend, Ûna attempts to carry on, duvetless, but is visited in a feverish nightmare by ‘The Butterfly Man’, who hands her an old duvet manual which tells her to enter the ‘reocurring door of dreams’, there she will find Duvet World. Ûna, voyages on a wild goose(feather) chase to duvet world, meeting surreal duvet based characters in order to bring her comfort blanket home - but along the way, she realises she must face her demons and let her duvet go, in order for them both to be free.
THE FUND
I'm extremely lucky to have rallied an amazing creative team together to make this film who have volunteered their time, skills and efforts, but I need some funds to propel us through the shoot, to make sure we are all looked after!
I am looking to raise £700 for the shoot, the funds I raise from this campaign will cover essential costs: travel/petrol costs and catering for all of the cast and crew. As well as kit insurance, location fees and petty cash I may need during our shoot.
With your financial support:
- I can ensure that the cast and crew, who are voulenteering their time and skills are well looked after, that they are fed, coffee-d and that their travel fees are covered.
- I am insured on the kit hire! (This will cost around £200/£300)
- We can attain great locations!
- I can supply the art/design team materials for props and costumes
- I have a financial safety net during the shoot for things we may need at the time.
SUPPORT EMERGING SCOTTISH CREATIVE ARTS
Supporting emerging Scottish talent is so important! Let's sustain the creative arts in Scotland by showcasing our vibrant, inventive and hilarious roots. I have high hopes for this film and plan to send it to festivals worldwide, representing Scottish comedy and showcasing the amazing talent within the cast and crew, encompassing costume, props, actors, cinematographers, producers, songwriters, and beyond, who are all Scottish-based. With your support, we can highlight our creative abilities, talents and humour, and you'll be directly contributing to the arts in Scotland.
With your help, I'm certain the film will grow arms and legs, run off into the sunset, possibly with a yoga instructor or a lumberjack! and live happily by the sea somewhere, playing chess and drinking pińas!
I really appreciate anything you can offer. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
