Hello,
My name is Riley J. Ewing. I'm an actor/writer/filmmaker from the suburbs of Kansas City. A couple of friends and I recently moved to the big apple, and have since opened our own production company:![]()
We began making digital comedy shorts, and have since made videos that have over 50,000 views. While working on all of these shorts, I was developing something larger. After about a year of development, we have put together a script for an original short film, Hurry Up & Wait.
What is Hurry Up & Wait?
Hurry Up & Wait is a 30-minute narrative short set on New Year's Eve in New York City. The story follows a young musician Patrick, as he attempts to return to society after spending a year getting over The-One-That-Got-Away. Patrick has been talked into finding a kiss for midnight by his misguided bandmate, Corey. The film is deeply rooted in the romantic comedy genre with inspirations from filmmakers like Judd Apatow and Ben Stiller. It's a story that has heart, and tackles subjects like social media dating, depression, and the dreaded patriarchy!
In addition to the wacky antics in the script, the movie will be bookended by a music video and an original song by Rosie Upton. Since my background is in music, I wanted to incorporate as much original music as possible. It's going to be a blast!
All we need is you!
How much does he want?
Yup, 20,000 is a lot of money. I've been working with my producers, and brought this price down, as much as possible. This money goes towards all post-production and production costs. In order to bring the production value that this film deserves, SPACEHEAD will be collaborating with Sense Films.
Where does the money go?
Glad you asked! Here is a comprehensive breakdown of the budget spending:

Why this movie?
Hurry Up & Wait, is more than just a goofy comedy about the woes of 21st-century dating. It makes bold commentary on the common misogyny in typical "Dude Comedies." We wanted to break the mold and tell a story with strong independent women, that don't need a relationship to define their success. The script has been rewritten several times to avoid falling into the typical manic-pixie-dream-girl trope, and instead portray men who make the discovery that they are the cause of their own self-defeat. This is an idea we hope will be used in future projects, and will lead to a movement of progressive art, and comedy that makes fun of the parts of society that are still behind.
What will become of this film?
Upon completion, the film will be entered in film festivals across the country. There will be no immediate foreseeable profit for this film. What, you are investing in, however, is the artistic patronage of a new generation of storytellers.
Who is this "WE" you keep talking about?
