“When the truth is a lie, reality is an illusion.
but you can’t white out the world so easily,
the nothing left is an emptiness so full it can kill you…”
HVNTER GVTHERER announces the debut of the IRON AGE collection with an experiential fashion/lifestyle show and live performance. In one night only, the darkest of dreams will pierce our illusion of reality. More nightmare than nirvana, the sensory experience that awaits aims to connect the conscious and the subconscious, the past and the present, the primal and the civilized.
Postdating the BRONZE AGE, the IRON AGE explores systems of power, our relationship with raw materials and the effects of late capitalism. Inspired by a misplaced dream, current events and personal narrative, the designer offers a collection that asks more questions than it can answer.
The debut will be held June 30th, at Black Oak Tattoo, Chicago, IL. The evening kicks off at 7pm and will feature models, performers, and a DJ.
Conceptual Narrative:
We are in a dystopian civilization inescapably submitted to capitalism. What’s needed is an awakening, one that happens deep inside us, from a primordial place that makes up our very soul. This place is connected to the iron age world, where iron and weaponry are symbols of power used to divide the haves from the have nots.
Historically, we have quantified our progress through the material ages as a way to define our achievements and mastery of the physical world. “Iron Age” specifically is an era spanning roughly 2000+ years that ushered in industrialization.
But what modernized us may also destroy us and the Iron Age collection is an artistic interpretation of a collective “Epiphany” – experienced as a slap in the face or a poke in the ass. It offers us a chance come to terms with and interpret our current age and impending social, environmental and economic catastrophes.
In Hvnter Gvtherer spirit of responsible production as in previous collections, Iron Age materials are sourced from deadstock fabrics found locally, other pre-worn black leather garments ( as in the 2015 collection SAL ET CORIUM ) and hand polished and hand sewn vintage iron nails.
The Iron Age fashion show will showcase a collection of handmade, conceptual garments in a monochromatic dark, moody palette with pops of contrasting elements that satiate the senses through texture, shape, and sound. The quiet murmur of linen panels brushing against the body, moments of flesh revealed through black silk organza, unusual and asymmetrical cuts are designed to suit a wide variety of body types.

“Hvnter Gvtherer is a Chicago-based jewelry line that features striking metal work and simple yet modern designs that call upon the ideology and imagery of primitive human cultures and trade techniques... We immediately identified with her emphasis on materials, minimalist design style and conceptual campaigns.” - THE BRVTALIST
"Laura's one of a kind handmade pieces skirt the line between wearable everyday jewelry and high art." - Blog Feature, FOXTAIL + MOSS

Risks and Challenges:
The difficulties here are almost always budget, time, and helping hands. Every piece is handmade in a private atelier and by not cutting any corners in the making process, these pieces need an abundance of time and energy. Hard work and devotion are necessary to pull this off. Hvnter Gvtherer has been running since 2012 and has had experience budgeting and working with deadlines. This brand wants to grow above and beyond jewelry to create a lifestyle brand filled with thought-provoking fashion, homewares, and accessories. Please help us launch this fashion/lifestyle show to kick-off this new era of our brand.
Thank you all for your help and support!
