FAQs
So what do you mean, "they last for days"?
We've still got loads of power management optimisation to do, but we're estimating, under normal use you'll get several days before needing to recharge. However, the battery life should get you 12 hours continuous music playback, so enough for a full day before recharging at night.
How waterproof are they?
It's going to be post campaign before we can confirm the level of waterproofing. However, the body has been designed from the ground up to be water resistant, with a unibody silicone skin and IP67 rated USB socket.
The ports in the earpiece, however, expose some delicate components, and whilst they will definitely be water resistant to a degree, we need to verify their integrity under water pressure, and are testing multiple options to achieve maximum waterproofing.
How well do they stay in place?
Very well. Incredibly well. Running, jumping, headbanging, fierce disagreement - nothing we've tried will make them budge.
Can you wear them with glasses?
Absolutely! We've designed them to avoid problems with glasses, and whilst some arm designs work better than others, on the whole you can wear Hy with glasses without any problems.
That earpiece is pretty long. Is it safe? Do they feel weird to wear?
The earpiece is quite long by earbud standards, but we've designed it to fit over 90% of ear canal lengths, and it's one-size-fits-all. It comes very short of going anywhere near your ear canal, though we will always advise care, and to discontinue use if you experience any discomfort.
As for weirdness? That seems to depend on the person. We've tested it *a lot* and it's very comfortable - in fact, we've had people testing it who forget to give it back because they've forgotten it's there. Of course, the ear canal is a delicate place and you don't want be rough when you're putting it in, but on the whole, it feels so natural it's effortless.
Hy's materials are all certified biocompatible, so they're completely safe for your skin. We recommend however, that you don't wear them 24/7, as your ear needs to clean itself of dust and dirt, a process which Hy may slow down.
Finally, a small proportion of you may already have experienced the "Cough Reflex" when you clean your ears (including a member of our team!) Be aware that Hy may trigger the same reflex.
