HY-TEK Bio: Changing the Equation on Climate Change with Algae

HY-TEK Bio is an emerging global leader in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions using algae. The company's patent-pending technology uses a unique strain of algae (HTB-1) - isolated from thousands of strains - to consume up to 100 percent of the GHG emissions from flue gases generated by industrial manufacturing and power generation.
HY-TEK Bio has created a revolutionary business model that unquestionably changes the equation regarding climate change since it allows the use of fossil fuels, methane and even biomass as sources of clean energy while generating revenue to pay for the installation and operation of the technology, including profits for users and investors.
Because of the optimum conditions created in HY-TEK Bio’s patent-pending photo bioreactor tanks, the algae reproduces at an accelerated rate using the GHG emissions as food and is then harvested to manufacture high-value products, including pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, bioplastics, thickeners for cosmetics and paints, nutritional additives for animal and human food products, lutein/zeaxanthin (ultra antioxidants) as well as biofuel.


HY-TEK Bio has been recognized with awards and grants
HY-TEK Bio has developed its patent-pending processes in partnership with the University of Maryland's Center for Environmental Sciences  and Institute for Marine and Environmental Technologies, and has been recognized extensively with both grants and awards:

  • Climate Change & Emissions Management Corporation’s (CCEMC)  - HY-TEK Bio in cooperation with the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science was awarded a $500,000 grant as one of 24 Finalists among 344 submissions from 37 countries on six continents as part of a $35 million international Grand Challenge for Innovative Carbon Uses.
  • The Maryland Industrial Partnerships Program  - HY-TEK Bio was awarded three $100,000 grants over the past 4 years in addition to a current grant of $240,000 to work with the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science to help move its technology toward commercialization.
  • Department of EnergyDepartment of Energy (DOE) - HY-TEK Bio also has been fortunate to have received a $255,000 grant from the DOE through a contract with the City of Baltimore to demonstrate that its technology could mitigate a portion of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from the exhaust gases produced by the City’s methane-fired three-megawatt electric generators at their Back River Waste Water Treatment Plant
  • Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) - Recently chose HY-TEK Bio’s President & CEO, Robert M. Mroz, as the 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year. The MCEC was created in 2008 by the Maryland State Legislature to encourage the transformation of the energy economy and catalyze the growth of green business strategies in Maryland.


Now, HY-TEK Bio needs your support to commercialize
While HY-TEK Bio has support in its research and development, we still need funding to commercialize processes that can change how we all invest in the reduction of greenhouse gas.
HY-TEK Bio’s technology produces large volumes of high grade algae which can be used to produce a multitude of high-value products as mentioned above.  To do this, the HY-TEK Bio process uses unique bioreactors (very large containers filled with algae) as an optimum environment to allow its special strain of algae to rapidly grow and consume the CO2, NOx and other GHG emissions in the flue gases. These photo bioreactors are a HY-TEK Bio patent-pending design developed from unique materials.
We have also developed unique and innovative advancements in LED grow light technology, gas injection technology, and inexpensive yet high value nutrients – but that’s a whole other story. What we need your help with right now is…


WE NEED $50,000 to:

  • Fund the final re-design and prototyping of our latest photo bioreactors, including 3D software design for automation of the manufacturing process which includes the water-proofing base plate and supporting top ring for the photo bioreactors;
  • Fund the final design and prototype of our unique algae de-watering technology so we can quickly de-water the algae we harvest from our photo bioreactors so we can convert the algae to marketable products, and;
  • Fund the design and production of promotional materials to help explain the HY-TEK Bio technology and process to potential customers.

The impact of your contribution
Your contribution to HY-TEK Bio will have an immediate impact on moving our technology to commercialization.  A product that is ready to installation at landfills, waste water treatment plants, cement factories, power plants and other carbon emitters on a large scale.
There are literally thousands of landfills, waste water treatment plants, cement factories, power plants and other carbon emitters around the world that this technology can be installed and reduce if not completely eliminate the GHG emissions these facilities vent into the atmosphere every day.  And since the technology generates a revenue stream from the sale of the algae, local economies are supported through the new jobs and marketable products this technology creates

Your contribution will help launch this clean energy technology into the world.
We have had a demonstration of this technology working on an industrial scale for the past 18 months and have had help from the state and federal government and the support of expert university staff, but we need your help right now to actually launch this clean energy technology into the real world!
