Through an event free and open to the society, we are going to create dialogues starting from the critic and plural thought about independent cultural production, concepts of free art, possibilities of creation, reflection, development and disclosure of artistic and cultural proposals in multiple languages. The Lêstrada Free Art Festival, will aim the development of an organic activity, where the public - through an open call - will offer possibilities of cultural and artistic interventions, seminars, talks, free perfomances, shows, etc. We want to, emphatically, touch themes as independent production, hybrid art, affection, gender and surviving.
Belém is a city where the majority of the population does not have access to art and culture activities, in addiction, there is a clear anti-culture policy by the capital authorities which choose to chase, deny and suffocate multiples cultural movements and expressions, whether they are from the street or either from the most institutionalized, through a severe cut in the fundings for art policies. We have as examples of this, art movements such as Solar das Artes, As Batucadas, A Feira Libertaria, As Batalhas de Mc’s and a lot of others unfortunate episodes such as the closing of the Bar do 8. In addiction of this, the funding cuts at the Lei Semear, the twists in Tó Teixeira and the burial of the Valmir Bispo law - promoting and funding tools available (?) in Belém. The Lêstrada Free Art Festival is the result of that scene, but with the objective to recognise in the street a space of cultural resistance, where art is a result of something that changes someone who creates, who receive and absorve, therefore, we want to develop independent options, free for all, to shake the city, to create an event that evolves to the street and to open the space of Forum Landi to the formation and exchange with the communities of the surrounding and the population in general.
